COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
How could we hope to top last year’s Jewbelation Sweet 16 with its cupcakes, unicorns, & Satan’s Ferrari birthday cake? massive challenge. So for Year 17, we threw in a whole new dimension to our shtick – we built our very own brewery! After 17 years of contract brewing, our first Shmaltz Clifton Park batch emerged 17 months after the first draft of the business plan. Coincidence? Renaissance means “Re-birth” in French & Italian. In Buddhism, the concept does not truly translate as “reincarnation” but instead as “becoming,” or a “stream of consciousness.” 11 syllables structure a haiku. Shakespeare penned 17 comedies. In The Simpsons episode “Duffness” Homer sings “When I was 17″ about buying his first beer with a fake I.D. “I drank some very good beer. I stayed up listening to Queen, When I was 17.” In The Office, Dwight recites Rule 17 that all Schrute boys must learn: “Don’t turn your back on bears, men you have wronged, or the dominant turkey during mating season.” Knowledge and growth come in many forms. It is taught that Nirvana is only attained when the soul transcends cycles of rebirth. Looks like Shmaftz just isn’t there yet. So with 17 malts, 17 hops, and 17% abv,JEWBEL4TIONREBORNserves as another mark of our death as a contract brewer and proof of our conversion to a new life as brewery owner…… L’Chaim!!!

Bottle. Almost black with a brown head. Aroma is mostly roasted malts, dark chocolate and alcohol. Flavor is more complex with a variety of malt and hop subtleties. Full bodied(malty) with a slightly boozy finish. Not as boozy as you would think for 17%. I really enjoyed this one.

25 nov 2013, tap. Black. Nose is toasted coconut, bran muffins. Med/thin body and fizzy. Alcohol is pretty noticeable, leather, burnt toast, meaty. Not sweet considering it is 17%. Pretty tasty! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown with a thick creamy head. Alcohol very present in the first sip, thought this might ruin it, but no. Vanilla notes, harsh finish. I would drink again, but not often. Another great Schmaltz brew.

I’ve waited for this one for quite a while - and it’s a big improvement from the usual, cloying sweet style. This brew taste like a sweet stout; lots of roasted-malt notes with plenty of chocolate and hints of cherries and butterscotch. The aroma was a tad smokey with even more chocolate and coffee. There was heat, but it only added complexity to it all - cheers!

12 oz bottle. Great idea to offer some of these bigger, crazier brews in smaller formats. Deep tarry brown with some edgy foam. Nose is chocolate, port, citrus peel, apricot and raisin. Dense with an alcohol bite. Not as heavy or cloying as one would expect. Taste is molasses, pine, chocolate liqueur, orange marmalade and a touch of espresso.

Bottle:   Surprisingly black, soft and thin foamy tannish head, little lacing.   Big rich bready and roasted malt nose, a bunch of alcohol, at 17% its a bit hard to hide.   Hard to believe that this one is 17 malts and 17 hops.   Moreso, hard to believe its 17%.   Big and rich breadiness on the tongue.   From the get-go you know this is gonna be a bruiser.   Big huge malty background, strong biscuit and roasted malts.   Almost nearing Imperial Stout territory.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   This is a big beer, very big beer.   Its a combo American Strong crossed with Imperial Stout.   Young but not green.   Well built beer, especiall for something that is 17%.   Thick and rich, this one will put a lot of people.to bed!
