COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
How could we hope to top last year’s Jewbelation Sweet 16 with its cupcakes, unicorns, & Satan’s Ferrari birthday cake? massive challenge. So for Year 17, we threw in a whole new dimension to our shtick – we built our very own brewery! After 17 years of contract brewing, our first Shmaltz Clifton Park batch emerged 17 months after the first draft of the business plan. Coincidence? Renaissance means “Re-birth” in French & Italian. In Buddhism, the concept does not truly translate as “reincarnation” but instead as “becoming,” or a “stream of consciousness.” 11 syllables structure a haiku. Shakespeare penned 17 comedies. In The Simpsons episode “Duffness” Homer sings “When I was 17″ about buying his first beer with a fake I.D. “I drank some very good beer. I stayed up listening to Queen, When I was 17.” In The Office, Dwight recites Rule 17 that all Schrute boys must learn: “Don’t turn your back on bears, men you have wronged, or the dominant turkey during mating season.” Knowledge and growth come in many forms. It is taught that Nirvana is only attained when the soul transcends cycles of rebirth. Looks like Shmaftz just isn’t there yet. So with 17 malts, 17 hops, and 17% abv,JEWBEL4TIONREBORNserves as another mark of our death as a contract brewer and proof of our conversion to a new life as brewery owner…… L’Chaim!!!

glennmastrange (2255) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - APR 25, 2014
Bottle. Heavy toasted and nutty for the malt, moderate perfume and burnt orange peel for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with raisin, prune, tawny port, toffee and alcohol. Head is small, frothy, light brown with slippery lacing and good legs and is mostly lasting. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts heavily to harshly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic, and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, syrupy, with a carbonation between soft and lively, and finishes metalic, lightly astringent and harshly alcoholic. This American Strong Ale is somewhat harsh in spots, but it’s complex and super rich.

OmegaX (1255) - Florida, USA - SEP 13, 2014
Bottle from ABC. Nose is pomegranate, molasses, sweetness, figs, marker, some roast. Pours a dark, dark brown, beige head. Flavor is sweet malts, figs, plums, hot alcohol notes, lightly roasted, intense. Not bad.

Pailhead (4809) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - NOV 23, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate cherry, chocolate, molasses, grape, fruit, and alcohol. It pours a dark brown with an orange glow around the edges of the glass. It has a small tan head that quickly fades to a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, molasses, and caramel. The finish has moderate roast, light coffee, nuts, alcohol, raisin, and a hint of metal. It’s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Overall, it’s not nearly as sweet as the past few anniversary beers...and that’s a good thing. 12oz bottles in the gift pack are at least a start in the right direction compared to the 22oz bottles I’m still seeing.

Bottle. The pour is dark and looks thin. The aroma has hints of bourbon. The taste is very heavy malt with hint of bourbon. A little harsh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

ABUSEDGOAT (2389) - California, USA - NOV 27, 2013
Blackish pour, smallish head, some lace/retention. Aroma is licorice, chocolate, caramel, touch of darker fruit. Full bodied, alcohol hidden well, sweet, slightly syrupy. A big malt bomb with really well hidden alcohol.

The aroma is vinuous, soy sauce, cereal grains, boozy. Really odd. The color is deep brown black, light tan head. The flavor is soy sauce, spicy, very boozy. The finish is booze burn, spicy, lots going on. Weird. Too much going on in this beer really. Medium thick in body, oily mouthfeel. I’ve loved the jewbelation experience, but maybe it’s come to an end.

Bottle. Opaque, murky mahogany. Short tan head. Aroma is boozy and sweet. Lots of caramel, toffee, toasted malt, dark fruit notes, alcohol, roasted nuts and dark bread. Taste is very boozy and extremely sweet but has a weird hoppiness underlying it. There’s burnt caramel, toasted malt, toffee, dark fruits, chocolate notes, roasted nuts, chocolate cake, liqueur and dessert pastries. Body is medium with a moderate carbonation. Lots of boozy warmth and sugary stickiness to this one. Ends with more booze, candy notes, chocolate cake, cocoa, roasted malt, burnt caramel, dark fruit, roasted nuts, chocolate pastries and toasted dark bread.
