3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Boozyness and sweet caramel/malts in the nose. A little bit of banana and woody notes as well. Very dark and viscous pour, with virtually no head. Looks black in the glass. Taste is very syrupy, molasses comes to mind immediately. Quite interesting array of flavors, including coffee, soy sauce, red fruit and chocolate come through. Cocoa aftertaste with hop bitterness and alcohol heat. Very syrupy mouthfeel. Interesting to try.

Whoa, this is a huge beer. I too find the body a bit on the thin side (comparatively speaking), but that’s one of the few faults. Hides the alcohol just enough where it still feels warm, but also sweet. I suppose your liking to this beer will be dictated by how you feel about sweet beers. Even then I find this to be quite grounded, similar to the Cuvee van der Kaiser Blauw I also picked up from the LCBO. This one would be worth aging. Taste profile falls somewhere between a strong ale, a Russian Imperial Stout, and a barley wine. Lots of malt, quite a bit of bitterness, lots of dark fruits (plums, raisins, dates, etc.), but also some roasted flavours and chocolate in here. Great beer.

Black with light brown head. Malty aroma of dark fruit, chocolate and bourbon. Rich and malty with complex layers of flavors going on here: raisins, cocoa, and butterscotch . Finishes with some coffee grinds.

Wow they have thrown every thing in this beer....This will either be a mess or at least make me a mess. Dark chocolate brown body with a tall brown cap. Aroma is not the mess I was expecting.....Mild burnt sugar, coconut, sweet coffee, almost soya sauce, no hint of the 16%... kind of boring. Taste is so very mild for what this is. Soya sauce, burnt sugar, so very sweet, no trace of the alcohol...how did they do that. This is drinking down to fast. Kind of a simple taste for the whole mess of ingredients that’s in here. Why so thin feeling. I really don’t mind this beer but its kind of a let down. Kind of want to re-review this on a different night.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 mL bottle. LCBO says this is 14.5%, and they are generally right about this sort of thing. Looks like a porter or stout. The aroma is stoutish, minus the roast. Got the coffee and chocolate, got the soy sauce. Not a lot of hops in the nose. Big taste, big body. Only reason I can’t give it a 5 for palate is I’d like a touch more bitterness in the finish. Creamy chocolate, booze, bread, dried fruit, carmelized sugar, touch of anise. This one will age really well, but I don’t know how long I can hold out!

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
It pours black with mahogany highlights; the head is beige and mousse-like. The aroma has notes of: prunes, figs, alcohol, fruit cake, and dark rum. The taste is heavy sweet that finishes with a light astringency; there are notes of: fruit cake, figs, molasses, liquorice, and charcoal. The palate is full bodied, has a thick mouth-feel (sticky), has very light carbonation, and a long strong finish. Overall, fab, just fab - I’ve been looking for malt goo like this.

Bottle 650 ml
Aroma: crazy bold mix of varipus malts, alcohol heat , coffee and grassy dry hops. Woody caramel with dry alcohol heat backing.7+
Look: clear , dark brown with dark beige cap. Slight rings on glass.4-
Taste/palate: full bodied. Hmm...traditional now days Hebrew aproach. Sweet, dry with roast and hops on side. Very strong sipper. Share with your friends or you will risk. Perhaps this one is one step too far....best samples were from few years back at 12-13%

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bomber to a red wine glass. Pours jet black with some mocha head that rapidly dissipates. Aroma is alcohol forward, with bready malt overtones. Taste is gigantic, sweet alcohol explosion with plum and raisin on the finish. Overall, pretty complex for 16%. Happy birthday!
