22oz bottle poured into a Snifter at 38°. Color is black with light carbonation and a thin tight tan head. Aroma is sweet dried fruit and alcohol. It has a full body with a slick, smooth mouth feel. Flavor jumps out with molasses then coffee, a bit of toffee some dried fruit and a note of oak. After taste is slightly bitter as the molasses gives a very faint smoke taste and the alcohol showing ever so slightly. Overall I like, I feel it’s a nice sipping brew with a different flavor palate then the previous releases. I also feel that for having 16% abv it hides it very well, other than the fact that after half the bottle I feel pretty well lit.

Bottle. Split over two sessions two days apart. Rating from first session. Very approachable for a big beer. LIke eating a bread pudding made with rich brownies and high ABV beer. Dark brown with a nice brown foam. Nose is boozy molasses. Flavour is alcohol, brownies and molasses. Holds up well to previous years but how high can they go?

Tap at the Mason Lounge on NYE. Motor oil black with light brown head. Lots going on with this one: sweet, molasses aroma, with some dark fruit, chocolate, coffee and anise. Mild hop presence in the taste (mostly the Fuggles, I think) , but mostly sweet raisin/chocolate/licorice combo. Strong roasted finish. For as much of a mess as this could have been, I’m mildly impressed.

I have been getting this every season for several years Jewbelation 10, 11, 12, etc. these guys are a hoot just to make this each year. This one is also pretty exceptional. Will kick your butt and I usually have it on New Years eve. This one is especially tasting of licorice and the Alcohol is pretty hidden. More of a beer soup that pours like motor oil. The brewmasters pull it off once again for palette and taste. I usually get a bottle or two for my Jewish friends for Hanukkah.

650ml bottle pours a dark brown color with a small white head that leaves very little lacing on the glass. Aroma is light chocolate and brown sugar with a strong dose of alcohol. Taste is a chocolate and malty sweetness with a herbal hoppy bitterness with notes of alcohol burn in the finish. Considering all the malts and hops in this brew, it is not as complex as it should be, it is quite basic in taste and aroma.
