68? That’s all? Wow, lots of bad palates. Either that or it tastes way different in bottle than it does on draught. Anyway, draught > Common Table. Surprisingly smooth and not totally boozy or alcohol hot considering the %. Plenty of good warm interesting flavors. I could’ve sipped on plenty of these tonight or any chili night for that matter.

Talk about overkill! Deep brown color with a thin patchy head that mostly gets pushed off to the sides. This is boozy as hell; tons of thick caramel malt to go with raisins, sweet sticky molasses, and cotton candy. It warms the body up, that’s for sure. There’s a sharp alcoholic finish that mixes with some hop bitterness. Meh. Definitely drink this one in small doses and even then it’s not very good. Age might do this some good. I believe they used 16 different malts and hops. But hey, if that’s your thing then you might like this. Not for me.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown (almost black) color with a moderate tan head. Don’t get a lot off the nose of this, but there is a faint smell, which is inviting. Taste is a little malty, but nothing terribly remarkable. There is a bit of an alcohol feel on the back-end, which cropped up out of nowhere.

The aroma is very strong with alcohol, dark fruit, caramel, toffee, hops, and chocolate. The appearance is dark brown with a small tan head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thick. Overall a very good beer but like the others in the series it’s a bit muddled but I love the concept.

Draft at sb. Pours nearly black with a dense and creamy dark tan head. Biscuits and raisins and dates on the nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Intense boozy hot vodka rubbing alcohol twang. Chocolate raisins and biscuit mid palate mixed with the rubbing alcohol. Hot dry acetic finish.

Pretty damn delicious. I’m surprised at the negative reviews here. Granted, it is a very big beer that you have to be ready for. Aroma of deep dark malt, coffee. Rich, thick molasses boozy taste.

The nose is boozy, chocolate, dark ripe fruit. The appearance is a deep brown/black, like a stout, light brown head. The flavor is sweet and boozy, chocolate, toffee, booze, ripefruit. The finish is a boze burn like scotch, and a lingering sweetness, some pine needles. Medium/thick to thick in body, oily in mouthfeel. Since I’m a fan of big, sweet, boozy beers, I’m good with this. i can see some people turned off by this. But IMO, very good. A bit too boozy if anything.

Glad I was able to snag a bottle of this! Deep, dark brown pour -- glossy black in the glass, with a slow-forming (and fairly quickly dissipating) burnt-mocha head. Boozy seafoam candy, or maybe toasted marshmallows dipped in rum on the nose. Some oak and brown sugar, and maybe just a hint of something bitter and roasted -- like a mild coffee. Very, very warm, and I don’t just mean the alcohol -- warm like cinnamon, only this doesn’t smell or taste like cinnamon. The taste is *quite* boozy, but it really does cover its 16% pretty well. Notes in the flavor match the aroma, with a significant alcohol burn all the way through, and a bitter, roasty finish. This has always been one of my favorite brews, but I think they may be bumping up against reasonable limits -- the recipe peaked at around year 12. Definitely a trip.

On tap at GABF. Pours a dark brown color with a grey head. A big nose of chocolates and sweet candies. A very dry flavor with toffee, candies, plum, sweet molasses, heat, very big. Worked for me. Not really syrupy, light carbonation. A bit like a massive barley wine. Good.
