This was OK... Very sweet and very malty. I couldn’t find the hops in this at all. Also it has a little alcohol aftertaste which could be expected at this percentage. Way too sweet for my liking. The palate, appearance and aroma were all well done, but the taste is where it fails.

This starts with a faint boozy aroma, and pours an opaque black with a thin tan head. Very sweet flavor, with lots of dark fruit. The hops and bitterness don’t come out until the end, and the alcohol is well hidden, with just a touch of burn in the finish. Very slick on the palate, very little carbonation noticeable. Not bad, but not one that I’ll be going out of my way to get again.

Bottle @ ZeeBra Extreme Beer Festival 2013. Brown to black pour. Aroma is roasty, spicy, some alcohol and sharp and boozy. Flavor is alcoholic roasted, coffee and licorice. Quite bitter and spicy.

apple cider, milk chocolate, and alcohol aromas. dark gold head over impenetrable dark. real slippery in the mouth. the molasses sweetness nor the roast malt cant disguise the alcohol, which, along with the distant hop edge, provides a little balance. I will carefully drink this monster & stay home tonight.

Holy big beer batman. Pours inky black with a small beige head. Aroma is raisin, chocolate, roasted malts, alcohol. Taste is astringent alcohol with fig, chocolate, roasted malts. Just a big mashup. This has to end some time yes? I love these beers but it’s becoming more muddled.

Poured a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roast malt, dark fruit and dark chocolate. Medium to full body, flavour as the aroma with some vanilla smooth alcohol. A lot in it, but nothing much coming out as dominant.

Deep dark body, small tan head. Bourbon kind of sweetness, roasted malts, chocolate, raisins. More refined than tasteful. Strong flavour, alcohol, hops sharpness. Warming ending. (ZeeBra)

Bottle @ zeebra. Aroma is big malts, some roast, liquorice, caramel and more. Flavour is sharp roasty liquorice alcoholic madness. A bit too much.

Bottle with label marked as "CA Edition". Pours with a black hued pour and a large and lasting deep brown head. Aromas are malty, biscuity, licorice, vanilla, iodine, chocolate, cotton candy, grainy, rye, dark fruits, plums, deep caramel, treacle. Lightly herbal, low ester, boozy. Summed up: Busy. Flavors are pretty sweet and pretty muddled with big chocolate, roast, coffee, tobacco, dark fruit, kiln coffee, boozy, medium ester, lightly fruity, lightly herbal. Busy and convoluted. A bit silly (especially when you look at the hop schedule on their brew sheet online). While they are at it, why don’t they try to ferment it with 16 different yeast strains? Silly. Huge body, viscous, warming. Medium carbonation with big alcohol. Honestly it is a lot better than I expected (from a beer who’s recipe seems based more around a marketing goal than a taste goal).
