I drank a bunch of these beers. It looks like a nice brown ale and tastes and smells like a nice brown ale, but that is all. Good brown ale to chug, but not much good for anything else. Mostly just a gimmick brew.

Jul 22, 2008 Brown with light, vanishing head / Sweet, molasses-caramel nose / Medium body, watery, with somewhat cloying sticky malts, with fair finish / Simple, clumsy flavors of burnt molasses and caramel / Well below average.

Jul 19, 2008 Brownish color. Smell of malt, hops, nuts, syrup and caramel. Taste of roasted nuts, caramel, hops, bread, sugar and a high amount of malt.

Jul 16, 2008 Nice aroma, head doesn’t hang around long, thin mouthfeel. Lots of chocolate, sweet malt, hops to balance. A nice brown ale, but I wish it had more mouthfeel to it. I’d like to try it on tap, might improve my rating.

Jul 13, 2008 Dark reddish brown, with ever so slight notes of molassess and honey and cola and herbs. Flavor is woodsy, with notes of rye, as well. Rather earthy and smokey, too.

Jul 12, 2008 Nicely done little brown ale...another flagship that provides cash for bigger and better things. Good and light nutty roast hints with a well done malt aspect. And that’s that.
