Miksu (1348), Jyväskylä, Finland Oct 9, 2008 0.66 l bottle (vintage 2004) at Akkurat, Stockholm. Dark reddish brown color with small head. Sweetish, roasty, berryish and vinous aroma with licorice, prunes and raisins. Soft roasted malt flavor with coffee, chocolate, licorice, toffee, prunes and raisins. Sweet chewy palate, not very drinkable.
Ungstrup (11692), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 16, 2008 Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin yellowish head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of berries and fruit, and so is the flavor, though combined with light notes of alcohol and cocoa. The finish is dry. Thanks Papsoe for sharing. sebletitje (579), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 23, 2008 Bottle courtesy of CigarCityBrew.
This beer aged very welll. Pours a dark ruby with a brownish head.Aroma reminds me of a porter, lightly smokey/roasted, chocolate / toffee malt.
Taste is thick and sugary, very sweet, filled with nice flavors. Alcohol was noticable. Highly enjoyable and drinkable. blankboy (2687), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 28, 2008 My bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev & garthicus -- courtesy of gunhaver. Pours a very deep ruby with a small diminishing frothy beige head. Nice aroma (7+) of toasted caramel malt, brown sugar, dark fruit and some mild grassy hops. Flavour of dark fruit, some nuts, lightly roasted malt and a light bitter finish. Quite fruity and sweet. Average bodied. Better then I expected, I liked it. tupalev (2337), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 20, 2008 Bottle shared with Blankboy, Hogtown Harry, and Garthicus, Blankboy’s bottle. Very dark brown, big foamy brown head. Mild malt aroma, slightly sweet. Taste features lots of dark fruit (prunes), lots of molasses like sweetness, very fruity. Like a really kicked up brown ale. I enjoyed it, these guys usually offer something unique to go along with the marketing angle
