Brewed with the juice of over 10,000 luscious pomegranates, ORIGIN is a complex, rich and balanced Imperial Amber Ale with a truly unique character. The pomegranate juice is added during fermentation, leaving only the residual sugars, which serve to balance the hop bitterness.

Dark ruby red pour. Big off white head. Plenty of lacing. Sour fruit coffee malt. Taste is a slight fruit twang.

Pours a reddish amber color with off-white head. Pomegranate on the nose; follows onto the palate. There are some other flavors going on, but its weird finishes dirtyish.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2015 I must say, Origin Ale tasted nothing like I expected. Of course, I have to be honest in saying that I wasn’t really sure what I imagined a so-called “Imperial Amber Ale with Pomegranate Juice” would taste like. As it turns out, Origin tastes like an Amber Ale, an Irish Ale, and a Fruit Beer rolled into one. The tasting sequence goes in that order, more or less. Sweet malts and light hops start things off. Then, you get an unexpected creaminess. The finish has a lingering fruitiness that sticks to the roof of the mouth but it’s extremely subtle. Last thing you taste is a quick flash of fresh, clean hops but there’s virtually no bitterness. For me, the downplayed fruit notes were quite nice. While this beer is too odd for me to seek out regularly, the mix of flavors is quite unique and refreshing.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2014 Bottle. A- Malty, caramel, fruity. A- Amber color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Malty, caramel, dark fruits, slightly sweet, doughy. P- Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- I love pomegranates and was excited for this beer. From the first to the last taste, I couldn’t even find a subtle hint of pomegranate. This sits somewhere between an Irish Ale and an Amber Ale for me. It’s creamy and smooth and has some fruity caramel tones but no where near what the name implies. Overall, I was quite disappointed in this beer.

@ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Refreshing aroma of malt and fruit. Hazy deep amber with a 2" head that gradually drops to a cover, cobwebs of lace. Taste is semi-sweet fruity malt that blooms nicely in the palate before diminishing nicely in a lingering finish. As a fruit beer, this is exceptional - fruit is present, but not cloying; malt is present, but willingly takes a back seat. Good brew.

Well, lets start with aroma. Mild pomegranate, definite sweetness. Taste is pomegranate, lots of sugars, alcohol definitely comes through. Reminds me I am drinking a beer and not just pomegranate juice! A lot of these rater must have not had pomegranate before trying this... compare the two please!

Pours a clear amber with an off white head. Has almost no aroma. Taste is smooth and clean with a little sweet. Leaves a tart after taste.

22 oz. bottle from Jungle Jim’s-Eastgate. Pours a somewhat cloudy tea color with a small ring for a head. Notes of caramel, pomegranate, tea, some woody and leafy earthiness, and a little bit of candied nuts. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth, moderately boozy mouthfeel. Better than ratings indicate.

Pours a cloudy amber with a finger thick tan head. Smell is not strong but it does smell like pomegranate. Taste is almost wine-like fruity and slightly hoppy with a lasting sour/bitterness. Mouthfeel is good with light carbonation. This is a good example of what a fruit beer can be not too sweet or sour.

Bomber pours a hazy golden copper with very faint ring of clearish white head. Very sweet and a little medicinal. Definitely better as an additive in their blended rejuvenations, but not as a stand alone offering. a little tart and a little bitter. meh.
