| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 6, 2008 Bomber. Pours a murky red-copper with small beige head. The aroma is quite malty with the typical caramel and raisin notes, and there is a figgy fruitiness behind it. The flavor is burnt caramel, fig, a little bit of toast, and a somewhat earthy hoppiness. I was kind of expecting this to be cloyingly sweet, but to my relief it’s actually a little on the dry side, especially in the lingering bitter finish. A little bit of alcohol peeks through once in a while, but not enough to make it seem hot. Not a bad brew. Dorwart (1812), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 2, 2008 Sparse head that dissipates quickly. Sweet and malty aroma with some dark fruit and caramel apples. Kind of lifeless in the glass. Thick and syrupy. Color is a ruddy mahagony brown. Sweet flavor with lots of dark fruit and caramel. Some earthy notes. Some hops presence with a bit of lingering bitterness. Finishes pasty and malty. Not very inspiring. Nothing really wrong with this brew just that nothing stands out and says Oy Vey! MrRain (427), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Bomber poured into a tulip glass. This is the first beer I’ve rated in months. I’m returning from a liver vacation. HR pours fig-colored (behold! the power of suggestion) with a nice-sized hea that settles a little too quickly. The smells fresh and fruity with brown sugar or dark-fruit sweetness. The body is thick and chewy. The beer coats your tongue and throat. A light alcohol flavor is present as well. The finish lingers and the alcohol warms the belly. RSRIZZO (1362), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Aroma is faint but a slight fruit scent is there with a little alcohol. Color is a hazy amber brown with good carbonation and a thin but tight head. Taste is sweet and fruity. Starting with a medium body it goes down easy with a light feel. Finish come out with a mild sweetness that has gentle dried fruit tones and a very light bitterness. After taste is more dried fruit, a building of bitterness and a little alcohol. This brew rocks, I love everything with the He’Brew name on it. This is like a light refreshing version of the there 11. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2008 22oz bottle: Ruby brown pour with a thin, but compact, off-white head. The light, fruity nose arouses thoughts of sweet raisin (fig), apricot and peach esthers and almondy nuts. Big and creamy, the body pushes sweet fig and raisin to the front. A nice blanket of bready and caramelly malt balances the fruit. Finishes with a punch of citrusy hops to balance. This really comes off as a Belgian dubbel in many aspects. Hmm, figs in a Belgian? | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Pours a hazy ruby burgundy with lavender highlights and a very small white head. Has a strong yeasty nose, sweet with lots of dark candied fruits. Bready maltiness and some warm alchohol notes. Reminds me a little bit of Samiclaus with less alcohol. Lovely dark fruits and a well balanced malty fruit texture you can really sink your teeth into. Takes a few sips to really get used to it and get into it and is essential for this to be served at the proper temperature to pick up all the nuances. Great conceptual take on a Doppelbock.
