Bottle: Aroma of plums, molasses, grapes, and faint banana. It pours a transparent garnet with a small off-white head that fades to a ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with a plum and molasses combination. The finish has a moderate grape presence, faint banana, faint earthy bitterness, and a hint of alcohol. The alcohol flavor slightly increases as it warms, but never overbearing. Medium bodied with mild carbonation and somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Solid...surprised by the low score overall.

Tap at Barcade. Deep brown with a creamy tan head, quickly fading to nothing. Aroma is very rummy and date-laden. It’s got a brightly fruity character, some spiciness and a hit of molasses. As it warms, the plummy/rummy character comes to the fore. The raisin/plum character is pretty prominent, but I can’t say that it’s dramatically different from other beers where the date flavour comes entirely from special B malt. It’s still a pretty nice strong ale though. I suspect it will age pretty nicely.

Nice pour, a rich chestnut body with a ruby tint and an acceptable beige head which sadly lasts none too long. It has a sweet malty aroma with a light aroma of figs (not a Fruit Beer?) and green raisins. The sweetness never overpowers in the flavor because of an earthy/herbal bitterness that holds it in check along with a light peppery sensation. The finish is interestingly dry. Not bad.

nice malty backbone of a beer that is pleasantly enhanced by the earthy flavor of quality figs. 22 oz bottle went down well and had little alcohol profile. not much in the hop area (somewhat disappointing) but all in all ok. good fruit flavors of raisin and dark cherry the beer had somewhat of a sweetness to it. a spice profile that is not overdone.
