anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Mar 13, 2009 Draft @ Monks Kettle, SF. Rating #3200. Pours a dark reddish amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty fruity caramel aroma wit hsome spicy hints. Sweetish malty fruity caramel flavor with some hints of dark fruit. Has a sweetish malty caramel finish. cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Mar 6, 2009 Year of the fig came across as a decent viscous brew, but there was nothing about it that really seemed to capture my interest. Some dark malty and fig aromas coupled by fruity red wine and raisins. Ruby~brown pour, collapsing tan head and spotty lacing. Full bodied, borderline syrupy and rather sweet to the taste buds. A jumbled flavor of mixed berries, sugary malt and bear claws. Meh. Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Mar 6, 2009 I found it too sweet. Pours a mahogany in color with a rapidly dissipating head. Aroma is molasses and caramel. Taste is sweet. I felt cloyingly so. Very little hops present. alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Feb 28, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber color with small beige head. The aroma is caramel with a decent amount of sweetness, fruity, and slightly spicy. The flavor opens with more sweet caramel with a nice dose of fruit mid palate. Slightly dry and lightly bitter in the finish. There is also some alcohol that works its way in and is slightly distracting. Decent, but they make better beers. elihapa (1034), Honolulu, California, USA Feb 8, 2009 Hebrew Rejewvenator 2/7/09 (bomber. Pours brown with a cream-colored head. Aroma is full of plum and raisin. Flavor is initially quite sweet, of molasses and brown sugar. As it warms, flavors round much nicer, producing greater emphasis on subtle fruit qualities such as ripe plum and fig. This drink was still on the sweet side for me, however. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Feb 1, 2009 Bottle pours burnt orange brown with little head or lace. The aroma is caramel and some fruity notes. The flavor is sweet caramel goodness, some fig, and some minor hops in the finish. The palate is medium and cleansing - lively. Overall, I like it wee enough. mpersinger (176), , California, USA Jan 29, 2009 220z bottle pours brown, carb but no head. Aroma of dark malt and syrupy sweet carmel. Flavor starts out malt with alcohol warmth and sweet, sweet finish of...yes, ripest fig.
Reminds me of a Lagunitas Brown Shugga with more complexity. Props for being brazen enough to use figs. Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 29, 2009 Bomber. Poured medium amber with a short-lived cap of whitish head. The aroma picked up licorice and figgy notes on a sweet front with a warm dark fruity backing.. well-balanced, sweet, and interesting. The flavor was sweet as well with a warm kick to it.. molasses, licorice, and dark fruity sweetness supported spicy, peppery notes, aged figs, and even more molasses right at the back. Medium-bodied and sweet as mentioned on the palate.. good carbonation.. didn’t necessarily feel great, but it worked.
