I love when you open a door or turn a corner and realize there is an entire world that you’d never imagined existed, that’s in fact overflowing with people, schemes, and action. 2010 Sacred Species #3 seemed so obvious-Grapes. Noah’s first vineyard debacle (Genesis 9:20) to Dionysus, mythical Bacchus to Bar Mitzvah bad boys, Mogen David and Manischewitz. Appropriately Epic shtick. How many cups of Concord in childhood and many times have I heard: "But Jews don’t drink beer!" This year we came across the raging debates, alternative science, internet controversy and tribal rivalry of World Records relating to Š Grapes. Speed catching (67 in one minute, 1189 in 30 minutes!); Solo throw, run, catch (40 ft!!); Longest distance (354’4", shot from a water balloon launcher!!!); Greatest Height record (788 ft skyscraper!!!!) For this third incarnation of Rejewvenator I’m simply letting the mythological and pop cultural shtick rest and slurping together with all of you in a toast to this bizarre and delicious freakshow that we call Life... L’Chaim!

(22oz bomber thanks to JJFoodie) clear rich amber with no bubbles at all. Nose of grapes, sweet grain, lightly vinous and raisins. Taste of sweet grape, wheat, grain, rye, lightly spicy with an undercarbonated finish and grainy linger.

L’chaim to brewer Jeremy Cowan too! And he is right about the Jews not drinking beer. Well maybe some do. So here is the 2010 ReJewvenator - never got around to the 2009, the year of the fig, darn it, will try to not let that happen again. There is a bit of yeasty funk in the bocky aroma. Rings of lace on the glass. The flavor is quite good. I noticed more dubbel than bock, but a very fine flavor is presented here. Did they just mix the 2 together? Mellow, well blended flavors, with a bit of prune and grape. Nothing overwhelms, and the aftertaste is pleasant. Really good.

22oz bottle. Reddish brown color. Tan head. Aroma of Abbey Dubbel yeast, a touch of bread and dark fruit sugar. Flavor of Veryfine Grape Drink, dark malts, bread dough, and Belgian yeast. Lots of concord grape notes in the very dry finish. Not quite what anyone should expect from a Grape Fruit Beer.

Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a muddy amber/brown with orange hues and a rim of white froth for a head. I can definitely catch a whiff of sweet and tart grape in the aroma with outlying notes of biscuit. Flavors of concord grapes, Soft/medium carbonation and medium body. There’s apparent grape presence in the finish as well. I thought the body and soft carbonation were slightly out-of-balance here. A decent beer overall.

Sampled on draft at 3 Rivers 6 Pack Eatery this beer poured a dark orange-brown color with a large foamy beige head that lingered and produced great lacing. The aroma was sweet with notes of grape, cola, raisin, caramel and pine nuts. The flavor was tart and bitter with a fruity hop presence and notes of grape, raisin, caramel and nut. The finish was long, sweet and a bit hoppy Fairly full bodied. Very nice.

mazel tov, jjfoodie. Smells like Welch’s grape juice & swisher sweets. Not a fan. But mazel tov, anyhow.

Bottle shared by jjfoodie. Aroma is huge grape Kool Aid. Taste is overpowering concord grapes and sugar. Finish is slightly sweet, with a nice alcohol warmer. Very unusual and interesting.

Thanks to jjfoodie for sharing this bottle. The beer pours an amber color with a white head. The aroma is grapes with some toffee and sugar. The grapes are not that strong in the aroma but are present. The flavor is caramel and toffee malt with some sugar and a little bit of grapes. I really thought the grapes would be more prevalent but this is pretty much just a regular doppelbock with a little grape. Not that that is a bad thing, since I really like this style of beer. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

The aroma is fruity with malt, caramel, leaves, and spices. The appearance is deep amber with a small - medium head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is full and smooth. Overall this is a good beer.
