Thin off-white head of varying sized bubbles that does not last long. Very plummy and raisiny aroma with some sweet malts, carmel and maybe a hint of anise. Color is a dark mahagony brown. A bit of a watery palate. Kind of dry and chalky with more raisins and sweet malts with a touch of roastyness late swallow. Light alcohol presence. Not one of may favorite brews from this brewer. Simply ok.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 29, 2010
Dark amber pour with a thick off-white head. Aroma is sweet, candy-ish, and dominated by concord grapes, dark dried fruit and syrupy toffee character. Flavor is heavy on concord grape, reminding me most of grape jelly, brown bread toast, toffee candy character. I found the grape flavor to be more peculiar than enjoyable, but I have never been that fond of the flavor of concord grape juice.

22oz bottle.Pours a purple/red with a similar colored head.Nose is grape and banana.Taste is belgian yeast up front with grape and the maltiness of a bock on the back.As this brew warms it gets more heavy on the belgian aspects.Very tasty sipper that hides the abv well.Where this beer falls short is complexity. It needs a bit more of..well everything.Decent beer but nothing special.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish amber color with an off-white head. Very sweet and fruity aroma with a touch of hops. The flavor is again quite sweet, mostly grape, some plum and raisin aspects, with a bit of caramel malt sweetness as well. Interesting, but overall too sweet for my liking.

Aroma was of manischevitz and belgian candi sugar. Taste was quirky, obvious flavors from the belgian dubbel, the doppelbock was lost. The grape was very Welch’s, pretty bad beer.

Not frothy, slightly tan head. Holds well with bubbles that remind me of a oatmeal stout. Body is a dark red color when held up to light. Aroma reminds me of walking through a dank dark wine barrel cellar in Napa Valley! Yes, there is some malty aroma, but the grapyness is definitely there. Flavor is akin to a fine Belgian trappist ale. I would’ve expected it to have that unique concord grape flavor, but it doesn’t. Nice hoppy finish on the palate. Great job! (but Concord grape is NOT what I’d consider a sacred species LOL!)

Sampled on 7/23/2010. This fruit beer pours a reddish amber color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with nice lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, grapes and yeast. A medium to full bodied fruit beer. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are floral and earthy. A lot of Concord grape flavors and it does add a whole bunch of sweetness to the caramel malts, but it still tastes like beer. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Very smooth tasting. Mouthfeel is full round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

22oz bottle from bevmo. Pours a deep opaque brown with a two finger thick off white / beige head. Nice nose of dates, grapes, sweet and roasted malts. Medium sweet on the palate, not bad.

From a bottle poured a brown color with a fair amount of head. Malty flavor with a light fruity finish.
