COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
I love when you open a door or turn a corner and realize there is an entire world that you’d never imagined existed, that’s in fact overflowing with people, schemes, and action. 2010 Sacred Species #3 seemed so obvious-Grapes. Noah’s first vineyard debacle (Genesis 9:20) to Dionysus, mythical Bacchus to Bar Mitzvah bad boys, Mogen David and Manischewitz. Appropriately Epic shtick. How many cups of Concord in childhood and many times have I heard: "But Jews don’t drink beer!" This year we came across the raging debates, alternative science, internet controversy and tribal rivalry of World Records relating to Š Grapes. Speed catching (67 in one minute, 1189 in 30 minutes!); Solo throw, run, catch (40 ft!!); Longest distance (354’4", shot from a water balloon launcher!!!); Greatest Height record (788 ft skyscraper!!!!) For this third incarnation of Rejewvenator I’m simply letting the mythological and pop cultural shtick rest and slurping together with all of you in a toast to this bizarre and delicious freakshow that we call Life... L’Chaim!

22 oz. bottle from Mac’s on West Peachtree. I had this on tap at Taco Mac last night, but it wasn’t my draught, so I didn’t really get the taste for it. Anyways, Brown in color with a purple and ruby hue. The head faded away rather quickly. Smells like Smuckers grape jam/jelly. Lots of artificial grape in the aroma. This beer carries a sugary sweet aroma that is accompanied rather nicely by the yeast. Slight raisin aroma as well. Hell, now that is considered a fruit beer, instead of a Belgian Ale, things just got better! The grape aroma is quite pungent, even though it does seem a bit artificial. Grape is mixing well with the dough, yeast, and sugar flavors. A bit of the heat from the alcohol comes through. Slight bitterness comes after the aforementioned heat. Taste seems a bit too "juicy" to me. Overall, this has a lot of great things going for it e.g. the grape flavor, but it seems too artificial, as I have already mentioned about 100 times. I almost forgot to mention, this beer has a nice texture.

Atlanta, Ga. - Hop City Craft Beer and Wine - 22 oz bomber. Medium purple colored pour, slight, off-white head. Fruity aroma, accented by dates, raisins and grapes. Flavor definitely has a heavy grape juice presence. Reminds me somewhat of communion wine with its heavy grape sweetness. Hints of brown baked bread and some dates break up the sugary grape sweetness. Overall, decent.

Orange-tinted red with half a finger of off-white lacing. Medium aromas of candied plum/prune. Off-white light lacing. Average-Plus carbonation. A well-balanced palate that is a bit sweet. The grapes are evident on the palate, as well as the candied plum and berry. I like this beer a lot more than I expected to.

On tap at Pacific Standard. Very nice. Complex. Rather malty. Bready. Some grape, but really just comes as a non-distinct fruitiness.

I always anxiously wait for the Rejewvenator release every year. No noticeable grape flavors but maybe a slight dryness because of the grape. Aroma Belgium hefeweissen. Slight Belgium character and a more traditional doppelbock dominance. Always let the Rejewvenator beers warm up before you drink them. This one doesn’t have the sweetness that the other two have. Rather dry really. As always with the Rejewvenator an interesting experience.

Bomber bottle. Pours a garnet amber with a light tan that is not big but stays coating the surface and ringing the glass. The aroma of Belgian ale dominates the nose as well as dark fruit. Nice and smooth going down. I get dark chocolate and caramel malt along with some fruitiness, but not like you’d expect knowing grape juice has been added. Definitely not a fruity beer - - bet they didn’t use much. I’d say the Belgian presence is most noticable in the aroma and the doppelbock in the taste. Good effort once again by the Hebrews!
