COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
I love when you open a door or turn a corner and realize there is an entire world that you’d never imagined existed, that’s in fact overflowing with people, schemes, and action. 2010 Sacred Species #3 seemed so obvious-Grapes. Noah’s first vineyard debacle (Genesis 9:20) to Dionysus, mythical Bacchus to Bar Mitzvah bad boys, Mogen David and Manischewitz. Appropriately Epic shtick. How many cups of Concord in childhood and many times have I heard: "But Jews don’t drink beer!" This year we came across the raging debates, alternative science, internet controversy and tribal rivalry of World Records relating to Š Grapes. Speed catching (67 in one minute, 1189 in 30 minutes!); Solo throw, run, catch (40 ft!!); Longest distance (354’4", shot from a water balloon launcher!!!); Greatest Height record (788 ft skyscraper!!!!) For this third incarnation of Rejewvenator I’m simply letting the mythological and pop cultural shtick rest and slurping together with all of you in a toast to this bizarre and delicious freakshow that we call Life... L’Chaim!

Bottle on 10/25/2010. Clear dark amber body with a small creamy off-white head. Sweet fruit, caramel and malt aroma, with light grape hints. Sweet grape flavor with some fruit and caramel. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Appearance: Presents a darkened amber-brown body of modest clarity and a medium-sized, beige head with fairly decent staying power. Smell: A scent of dark bread, liberally toasted, and served up alongside varying notes smelling of packed brown sugar, concentrated grape juice, and a drop of molasses. Taste: Toasted bread spread over with dark brown sugar and crushed rock candy for a fairly sweet taste overall. Dark fruits along with a swig of Juicy Juice. Small hint of nutmeg spice. Minor bitterness, though it sustains until the drying, warming finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Moderate carbonation. Overall: It’s different and interesting to some degree, but the flabby sweetness throughout has me happy I’m only stuck to an eleven ounce goblet and not a twenty-two ounce bottle.

22. Pours a murky dark amber with a scant and sloppy white head. Big tannic vinous nose. A little oaky almost. Caramel and brown sugar under that. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Caramel, toast, nuts, brown sugar, wine grape skins, and a little oak on the mid palate. Longish vinous finish.

22oz bottle from bevmo. Pours a deep opaque brown with a two finger thick off white / beige head. Nice nose of dates, grapes, sweet and roasted malts. Medium sweet on the palate, not bad.

On tap at Datz Deli in Tampa and courtesy of thejohn. It pours clear deep copper with tan head. The aroma is roasty malts, caramel malts, figs, apples, spices, mild assorted fruity sweetness and yeasty spices. The taste is rich in flavor with roasted malts, sweet maltiness, some assorted yeasty and otherwise spiciness and then drying up in the finish with the help of a modest level of roasted malt astringency.

pours a cloudy dark copper with a nice light tan creamy head. aroma of light grape juice, belgian yeast, and a little alcohol. this beer also has the dopplebock infusion with nice lacing. flavor is the same as aroma. it is different and good and I also like this version better than the fig and date.

On tap at Pacific Standard. Very nice. Complex. Rather malty. Bready. Some grape, but really just comes as a non-distinct fruitiness.

Bomber from Whole Foods Los Altos. Pours a clear deep reddish-brown color with a one-finger off-white head and pretty good lacing on the glass. The aroma is big Concord grapes, Belgian yeast, brown sugar, and other dark fruit notes. The flavor fits the profile of a dubbel more than anything else, although I can see how it’s a dubbel/doppelbock blend. Caramel malts and slight toast, candi sugar, raisin, fig, and Concord grape. Fairly complex and interesting. Some bitterness to it on the finish. Medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and a fairly lively carbonation level. Overall, I like what they did with this one. Pretty satisfying brew.

22oz bottle. light brown color, off-white aroma, definitely a nice touch of grape juice / red fruits, malty, Belgian yeast in the abbey style. flavors, yeasty, grape, abbey style Belgian yeast, also get hints of caramel and chocolate. The whole blend of grape along with the abbey style is just perfect. I thought this was going to turn into a big sour grape fest, and everthing came out nicely balanced.

Bomber pour rich amber orange with a thick beige head that retains well. Aroma of molasses, grape skin, toasted malts. Taste is mostly the same with the grape coming through very nicely. I don’t think I’ve had any beers with grape so this is certainly unique. There is a certain amount of earthy bitterness and a thick malt body. Carbonation is soft. I’m not a big fan of Dopplebock’s but this one is manageable. Finish has a lot of grape and burnt malts. I would like to try this again a year from now.
