3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from 1pint (6 fl oz) bottle. Clear copper brown with dissipating beige head. Predominant dark fruit aroma with some caramel malt. Flavour starts off with dates, moves into a strong fig flavour and finishes with very subtle hops. Sweetness is there, but not quite as much compared to other strong belgians as it gets cut off at the end. Medium, sticky body.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle with a 22 oz label. Deep purple brown with a thin beige haze. Nose is yeast, toffee, date and sticky apricot. Syrupy, medium to full body with a buzz. Taste is dates, caramel, cardamom and fig finishing with burnt sugar. Unusual hybrid but it works quite well; the fruit adding a nice touch.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance: Transparent Copper color with foamy beige head
Aroma: Yeasty with sweet dark fruit
Taste: Dubbel hefe like profile upfront with the ginger figs and dates coming in on the back end
Overall: Tastes very similar to a raisin brown all I brewed-would have preferred a bit more maltiness

It's a great seasonal brew with taste of dark malts and dark fruit. Taste of figs, earth and toffee make this a fine holiday treat

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour on tap, dark reddish brown pour with off white head, aroma brought some dark fruits, hints of caramel, toffee, slight yeast and bready notes in there, some spice and grassy, herbal notes come through as well. Taste is a mix of herbal, grassy and spicy hops, slight bread into lots of sweet caramel, toffee, and dark fruits with figs, finishing sweet.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a cloudy brownish-amber, from a bomber bottle. Heavy aroma of dark fruits hints at the overpowering flavor to come. Not cloying, but too much on the fruit for my tastes. I’m sure I need to read up more on the topic, but I think the Belgians rely on a rich combination of malts and unique yeasts to get hints of these flavors, instead of actually throwing figs and dates into the process. Enjoyable enough, but I’ll go for something a little drier next time around.

Sampled in a bomber that was aged for a few months. A really nice unique brew. The pomegranate flavor was mild but noticeable and a good twist.

Never know what to expect from the Chosen Beer . . . this one works! I don’t know how much doppelbock I’m getting, but as a dubbel, this is quite the fruit-oriented one. Dark fruits at that. Maybe a bit of Belgian yeast, but really, the story here is dark fruits and malts. Both in abundance, both assertive, and both making for a fine beer. Solid B, if not B+.

A pretty good Dubbel. Press a dark raisin color with off white head. Some aromas of dark fruit and bubblegum. Nothing too prominent though. Sweet and malty flavors with enough bitterness on the backside to keep it from being cloying.
