Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 23, 2008 Golden-brown. Clear, but sufficiently dark so as not to see through it. No head. Figgy aroma with date syrup, tomato and a piloncillo like dark sugar note. Soft, somewhat chewy but the sugars tone it down. Understated bitterness and a warming finish. Fits in somewhere between a dubbel and an old ale. One of Hebrew’s better efforts. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Jun 7, 2008 Name: Rejewvenator
argo0 (6284), Washington DC, USA May 19, 2008 (22oz bottle) Small beige head atop crystal clear copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, cherry/fig/raisin, some caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, fig/raisin, caramel, some cherry, alcohol. Soft medium-full body. CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 2, 2008 Pours a transparent dark copper amber with orange and a spotty-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malts and light strawberry and fig fruitiness. Body starts farily full and lightly toasted caramely sweet with a mild bitter balance and nice fruity notes. Finishes smooth with a drier fig and raisin fruitiness and doughy yeasty flavor. A pretty nice strong fruit beer. hopscotch (4678), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle… This beer rocks!… Clear copper ale with ruby highlights and a small, creamy, khaki-colored head. The aroma is of dark malts, dried plum, fig and vinous esters. Full-bodied and syrupy with soft carbonation. Sweet, malty and fruity. The residual sugar is fortifying and not overbearing. Lengthy, fig and light maple finish. What a pleasant surprise. Makes me want to go at a bowl of succulent, rich, hearty figs. World class brew!
