robertjm (241), El Cerrito, California, USA Jun 17, 2008 Pretty foamy head with lots of large bubbles, which collapse fairly rapidly. Color of red with a hint of orange. Slight hint of malt in the aroma, but nothing overpowering. Thick body and mouthfeel. A bit of alcohol in the flavor, but nothing major. I bought this because the label mentioned being made with fig concentrate, but I’m not getting any overly sweet taste. Probably all fermented out I suppose. I like it. Has Belgian traits, but still is unique in flavor.
boto (1240), Granby, Connecticut, USA Nov 18, 2008 22oz. bomber: This one pours a clear, ruby tinged amber color. There was a i finger tan head on it that dropped off rather quickly. Milder aroma than I expected. It was still good, with a slightly sugary caramel aroma up front, followed by notes of dark fruits, some of which might be figs (the fig on the label was a slight hint!). Not much carbonation to this one. It has a slightly silky mouthfeel. The taste is good, although a touch lighter than I’d expect for a strong ale. Some alcohol, caramel and dark fruits predominate. Good, but not at the top of my list. beerbill (1393), Laurel, New York, USA Nov 18, 2008 Growler filled at Dave’s Bellport Beer & Cold Soda. Pours a cloudy brown with a moderate off-white head that lasted until mid-glass and left partial lace. Mild aroma of caramel and figs. The flavor is similar with some alcohol noted as well. This beer seemed a bit timid to me, especially for a strong ale. Not a bad beer, but not something I’d probably re-visit either. otakuden (196), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Oct 30, 2008 From my large bottle she pours a murky brown with hints of burnt amber where light peaks through. While allowing some light to peak through, my Rejewvenator ensures that as a strong ale it shall be no easy task. A thin head leaves a small ring around the edges of my glass. Brewed with massive amounts of fig, her nose practically explodes in my face as rich ripe fig notes mingle with sweet thick caramel malts and a nip of lemon in the background. Her first quaff is refreshingly effervescent and almost light to the touch. Being effervescent though does little to hide her full-bodied palate and character. The effervescence keeps her from being too heavy while encouraging a full mouthfeel. Lemon nips at the tip and top of my tongue while notes of fresh dark figs dance all around my tastebuds. Her finish is a pleasant clash of sweet caramelized sugar, dark malts, and fig, keeping me on my toes and enjoying this beer more than I thought I would.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I enjoy a good fig newton, but that doesn’t mean I will enjoy fig in my beer. I am pleased to say that Schmaltz pulls it off magnificently with their Rejewvenator without losing the character of a strong ale. I will definitely enjoy having another. brokephibroke (67), Mead, Colorado, USA Oct 23, 2008 dark brown pour with an orange background, tan quickly disapearing head. Aroma of strong metal and spring water - in your face. Sweet, dried fruit, fig newton aftertast. Not too good. Silphium (2049), Lansing, Michigan, USA Oct 21, 2008 Deep clear brown/red body, medium/thin buff head. Heavy caramel nose with dark fruit, toast, and hints of alcohol. Heavy, layered body with dark fruits, bitter toast, fig, and thick caramels. Earthy finish. After several sips, the fruity sweetness becomes a touch cloying. Overall, an interesting beer.
