Commercial Description:
Jewish tradition celebrates 2 New years; The 1st calendar month in spring historically came after the barley harvest. The High Holidays in Fall mark the creation of the world. Harvest to harvest - the perfect bookends for deliciousness! Arise noble Rejewvenator, infused for '08 with the sacred succulent Fig. O the history, O the shtick: Gen 3:7: "And their eyes were opened, and they knew that they were naked; they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons." Time to get cooking! "Professed Wrestlers and Champions were in times past fed with figs." -Pliny, Roman naturalist. Romulus, mythic founder of Rome, and his twin Remus were nursed by a wild she-wolf under a fig tree. In 1857, Queen Victoria commissioned an 18 inch plaster fig leaf to adorn her cast of Michelangelo's David. "The statue that advertises its modesty with a fig leaf brings its modesty under suspicion." -Mark Twain. Buddha gained enlightenment meditating beneath a fig tree. Zechariah/Micah: "Nations shall beat their swords into plowshares...all will sit with his neighbor under his fig tree, with no one to be afraid." Fear not Shmaltzers - Grab your Newtons, rub your happy belly, strap on your fig leaf and your championship belt, abd prepare to blow your shofar... tis a new HE'BREW Beer season to rejoice. L'Chaim! Brewed for Schmalt Brewing Co.

Pretty foamy head with lots of large bubbles, which collapse fairly rapidly. Color of red with a hint of orange. Slight hint of malt in the aroma, but nothing overpowering. Thick body and mouthfeel. A bit of alcohol in the flavor, but nothing major. I bought this because the label mentioned being made with fig concentrate, but I’m not getting any overly sweet taste. Probably all fermented out I suppose. I like it. Has Belgian traits, but still is unique in flavor.

22oz. bomber: This one pours a clear, ruby tinged amber color. There was a i finger tan head on it that dropped off rather quickly. Milder aroma than I expected. It was still good, with a slightly sugary caramel aroma up front, followed by notes of dark fruits, some of which might be figs (the fig on the label was a slight hint!). Not much carbonation to this one. It has a slightly silky mouthfeel. The taste is good, although a touch lighter than I’d expect for a strong ale. Some alcohol, caramel and dark fruits predominate. Good, but not at the top of my list.

Growler filled at Dave’s Bellport Beer & Cold Soda. Pours a cloudy brown with a moderate off-white head that lasted until mid-glass and left partial lace. Mild aroma of caramel and figs. The flavor is similar with some alcohol noted as well. This beer seemed a bit timid to me, especially for a strong ale. Not a bad beer, but not something I’d probably re-visit either.

From my large bottle she pours a murky brown with hints of burnt amber where light peaks through. While allowing some light to peak through, my Rejewvenator ensures that as a strong ale it shall be no easy task. A thin head leaves a small ring around the edges of my glass. Brewed with massive amounts of fig, her nose practically explodes in my face as rich ripe fig notes mingle with sweet thick caramel malts and a nip of lemon in the background. Her first quaff is refreshingly effervescent and almost light to the touch. Being effervescent though does little to hide her full-bodied palate and character. The effervescence keeps her from being too heavy while encouraging a full mouthfeel. Lemon nips at the tip and top of my tongue while notes of fresh dark figs dance all around my tastebuds. Her finish is a pleasant clash of sweet caramelized sugar, dark malts, and fig, keeping me on my toes and enjoying this beer more than I thought I would. <br /> I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I enjoy a good fig newton, but that doesn’t mean I will enjoy fig in my beer. I am pleased to say that Schmaltz pulls it off magnificently with their Rejewvenator without losing the character of a strong ale. I will definitely enjoy having another.

Deep clear brown/red body, medium/thin buff head. Heavy caramel nose with dark fruit, toast, and hints of alcohol. Heavy, layered body with dark fruits, bitter toast, fig, and thick caramels. Earthy finish. After several sips, the fruity sweetness becomes a touch cloying. Overall, an interesting beer.
