scraff (1662), Baltimore, Maryland, USA May 11, 2008 Dark clear mahogany, thin light tan creamy head. Nose held soft notes of candied fig and dates which warmed to faint notes of toasty orange and chocolate. Deep warm fig and toast flavors round to a brown sugar and cherry-like finish. Just a hint of bitterness in the end, but this stays on the sweet side throughout. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, dark fruity finish. Not bad by any means, but I know they can do better than this...
Trev (504), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Sep 6, 2008 shouldn’t this be a fruit /veggie ale if it’s infused with fig?
pours a dark amber with a thin tan head.
aroma is malty and dark fruit alc.
More dark fruit carries through into the flavour. malty molasses presence, but not overly toasty or chocolatey. Slight bitterness in the finish. Beer_Hawk (705), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Sep 5, 2008 Bottle. Poured brown with a fizzy off-white head that settles out quick. Aromas of dark fruits and rye. The flavor finds more dark fruits with a strange mix of malts. Medium body with lively carbonation. Dry, sweet up front and a hoppy bitter ending. rocbyter (638), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Sep 2, 2008 Strong and lightly fruity malt aroma. Clear amber color with a medium tan head. Malty taste getting sweet towards the finish. Light amount of hops are noticeable but mostly masked by the malt. Creamy palate until the end were it starts to lighten up. Bockyhorsey (1973), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 1, 2008 22oz bottle. Aroma of sweet fruits, fig. Red body with off white head. Fruit juice flavor that was too sweet and bitter for my palate. Aubrey (2592), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 29, 2008 Murky burgundy; thin head. Full and rewarding on the tongue. Rich malt flavors filled with molasses and toffee, plus a cornucopia of fruit flavors (fig, apple, pear, raisin). Nice amount of earthy-grassy hops to boot. Another tasty He’Brew.
