Bottle. Pour is jet black with a huge frothy head, aroma is intense roast malt and caramel. Taste is roast malt, coffee, light vanilla, light body, thin texture, gentle carbonation. Great stuff

Rauchiger Geruch, ein bisschen Aschenbecher, sonst röstig. Im Geschmack dann recht trocken, Vanille macht eher rauchig. Trotzdem sehr lecker.

Bottle mail-order from www.biershop.bierpost.com. Dark brown coloured beer with a large (over-flowing) beige head. Very lively in bottle. Chocolate malt and vanilla aroma. Semi-sweet, light bitterness, medium body, slightly oily texture. Initially lively carbonation soon became soft. Much enjoyed.

(bottle, 33cl) Black colour with a beige and big foamy head. Moderately roasted malty aroma with leathery, slightly iodinic/salty notes, accompanied by caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla and traces of cocos. Roasty bitter and moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a modest carbonation. Dark and roasty malt character with notes of dark chocolate, mocha, vanilla and a subtle fruity touch; dry-ish roasty bitter finish with a lasting aftertaste of dark chocolate and mocha. Pleasant. 29.V.14

Bouteille:Dark ruby-amber coloured, presumably clear, small to medium-sized off-white head with a little lace; dryish toasty nose with a chocolate-cake-like background - chocolate, vanilla(as expected) and traces of wood - ; moderate bitter-sweet flavour;lingering fruity-chocolatey finish, some hints of coffee in the aftertaste. A fine drop…

Bottle 33cl @ 1st RB DE-CH-F Tasting. A dark beer with medium head, nose is on dark chocolate and caramel, astringent feeling. Aroma is intense on dark coffee and dark chocolate, bit watery body, licorice notes, dry, lactose notes, ashes touch but intense on dark notes, didn’t get the vanilla really.

24/IV/14 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 1/VI/14 (2014-386) Thanks to Bartlebier for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, irregular beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: dirty start, some cooked vegetables, sweet, caramel, dusty, sugary, molasses. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish start, little bitter, some mocha, hint of vanilla. Aftertaste: sweet, caramel, bit sourish, soft bitterness, mocha, coffee, some vanilla. Despite the fact that it is actually a porter with vanilla flavours, it’s not exactly a great porter, with or without vanilla flavours. I guess some brewing and/or style errors have been made in the production of this beer.

33cl minimalist-artisan style bottle from bierpost, shared at tderoeck’s pre-ZBF tastoid. Ar: lots of weirdness going on, boiled vegetable, Piedboeuf caramel, cocoa milk boiling over. Wood cask astringent. High carb. Late red berry tartness. Very late smidgeon of an inkling of vanilla, very late to deliver on porter. Hm.

Many thanks for this bottle to Beerhunter111. Great aroma and appearance. This is a very smooth porter that is very easy to drink.
