COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Heidi is brewed naturally according to traditional styles used by German brewers for centuries. A rich blend of five specialty malts and two types of hops give Heidi a mature full and satisfying flavour. (Brewed by Nischwitz Cole Brewing at Mountain Goat Brewery)

On tap at Public House in Richmond (Melbourne). Glowing medium amber, looks lively. Nose gives me close to nothing, served a touch too cold perhaps. Tastes quite good in a lighter weight style. Malts are light and nimble, and an ok hop finish drives a genuine ’refreshing’, zingy style - clearly the beer’s biggest appeal.

I agree with Duff - this is not a Mountain Goat product, it is (was?) brewed by Nischwitz Cole using Mountain Goat's equipment, but it isn't a Goat beer. Anyway, I've found this beer to be somewhat inconsistent but when it's good it's really good. This time the aroma was apricoty and malty. Solid malt flavour followed by a strong, solid bitterness. Quite simple stuff but I think it really works.

After all my confusion on the name of this beer i finally decided to rate it. My info told me "Nischwitz Cole Brewing", whereas Ol_Juntans bottle he had kept said, "Brewed by Nischwitz Cole Brewing at Mountain Goat Brewery etc" , so i'll take his word, but maybe it should be called "Heidi Altbier"? instead of having a Mountain Goat affiliated name? Whos knows, anyway, on to the beer....... Didn't mind this to tell you the truth, OK, it wasn't complex or immensly flavourful, but pretty alright. Lightly caramelly and with a touch of aromatic hops in the finish (low bitterness), i didn't mind it.

At AIBA 2003. Light amber. slightly roasted caramel maltiness with reasonable hoppy bitterness to follow. A bit thin.

Very faintly hazy amber with medium size lasting pale yellow head. Faint caramel and malt when cold warming to some pleasant floral hops. Light body. Mild floral hoppy and malt flavour. Pretty watery. Medium fresh bitter hop finish.
