kkieft (10), USA Jul 7, 2005 This really is not bad for a low alcohol beer. IT definitely has a corn type aroma. It’s kind of like Miller Lite in a way. And by the way, the alcohol content is 2.16% not .5%. I called Pabst to confirm this. BBB63 (3681), La Porte, Indiana, USA May 16, 2004 Woo Hoo, my canned swill beer at TheDm’s little gathering, this one was my choice. Straw hue with fizzy dimishing head and minimal lace. The aroma is corn, floral and grassy hops, and some bubblegum. The flavor (hum) is grassy and metallic, but some pale malts and light bitterness does appear ever so slightly. The mouthfeel is well, you know, fizzy and watery. The best thing I can say is it wasn’t offensive and didn’t add much alcohol to my bloodstream. flemdawg (484), Naples, Florida, USA Feb 2, 2004 Ummmm, well it tasted pretty nasty. Yellow color and no head didnt make it look good either. Smell?? Lets just not go there. No redeeming qualities at all, not even any alcohol. What a waste of water. pkbites (250), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jan 6, 2004 This is even wimpier than regular light beer. It's not "non-alcoholic" but it's close. I suppose a 90 pound nun could get drunk on it after 15 cans. If you're looking to get a buzz, this ain't the place to do it. If you're looking for a deep golden color and thick rich head, this ain't where you is gonna find it! If you're looking for hearty, real beer flavor, you're still in the wrong place.
But if you want to avoid calories and alcohol, and still want something that tastes like beer, then this is a refreshing alternative to "near beer". Compared to regular beer, Old Style LA sucks. But it kicks the shit out of non-alcoholic brews like Sharps and Pabst N/A. thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 30, 2003 This canned brew poured a medium sized head of finely sized white colored bubbles that left behind a carbonated weak straw yellow colored body and a poor lace. The aroma smells nice from a distance and closer up is smells more mild with a nice unskunky, not like some other LA's, malt hop aroma. The mouthfeel is thin and tingly smooth with no afterbite and none of the usual acidic or metallic qualities I find in other LA's. Actually, for a LA it is quite nice and rated accordingly.
