Cavie (707), Arlington, Texas, USA Jun 21, 2009 Little smell but has an adjunct aroma. Light flavor, that is more or less smooth. But not much flavor though. kimcgolf (765), Dacula, Georgia, USA Jun 13, 2009 Hadn’t drank one of these for 25 years. Taste is much more subdued than it once was, but still grainy. Nose was muted, but still grainy. The appearance remained light golden yellow with small white head and little to no lacing. Actually not much skunk in the finish, just not much esle either. Can’t say this was a bad beer, just not much good about it either.
Nice 2009 commemorative Cubs bottle though. jimmack34 (512), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Jun 6, 2009 It’spretty funny that the first thing i thought without ever drinking this beer and never reading a review, is that this is a good ballpark beer. Then i see the reviews and alot of people refrence this to baseball. Just a typical pale lager with some graininess, slight corn, and some dry hops. Just a lil better than PBR, but not much. snakeoilpete (276), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 2, 2009 Updated: Jun 4, 2009Appropriately on tap at a Cubs game. Pours bubbly golden with a large foamy white head that lasts til the end. The smells and tastes are sweet, slightly fruity malt. Not as watery as I might have expected. glkaiser (1123), Seattle, Washington, USA May 31, 2009 It’s Old Style. We used to call it Dog Style. Good to drink while watching a Cubs game, and that’s about it. Tastes better warm than most crappy beers. Booya. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. Go Cubs. brew4fun (160), West Virginia, USA May 31, 2009 Nothing objectionable, but nothing to rave about either. Average pale lager, draft at Wrigley Field. Pale gold with short-lived white head. Light grainy flavor with some corn. Jayson2425 (167), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA May 24, 2009 Good beer to have with some old timers in a dump bar. They will buy rounds and rounds of this stuff like no other. EithCubes (2037), Indiana, USA May 19, 2009 Rating no. 2000 – kickin’ it Old Style, baybeee! 16 oz aluminum can decoratively bestowed with red brick and Wrigley ivy. Aroma light grass and pale malt, corn, dust. Low carbonation, pale yellow-golden pour, patchy brilliantly white head. Taste has some light malt, even some breadiness, and though the sweet corn and minerals dominate, its smooth light feel is not watery and there’s not an overabundance of perceptible alcohol. Very faint grain and a sort of oily vanilla in the back. True, it’s kinda crappy and a impurity-based hangover is strongly implied, but there’s a lot more charm and repeatability here than with the slightly bigger big boys.
