jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Apr 21, 2007 From the tap, served very cold in a pint glass.
Poured your usual clear pale yellowish macro lager golden with a foamy white head.
A faint, clean nose, powdery soap, cereal grains and a light whiff of hops.
Fizzy carbonation and a crisp, dry, thin light bodied mouthfeel, the uniform macro lager body.
Smooth, bland and boring taste, sweet corn and cereal grains, a sweet maltiness overall, a soft, light hop bite towards the end, and a dry, crisp, clean finish, nothing lingers in the palate.
A cheap, inoffensive macro lager, will do in a pinch, but I would prefer a PBR, Bud or Miller Draft to this, went well with the tasteless clam chowder I had at a national chain restaurant for lunch today.
Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Apr 17, 2007 What? They still make this brand of beer from the years I was in college? Though I remember calling this "Frog Style" or "Frog Piss" from the old world scenerey motifs that were placed throughout the 12-oz and 16-oz cans. Yes, there was a little bull frog above a funnel with a barrel under the funnel. One has to appreciate college students with so much spare time. This beer pours a golden light yellow. A large fizzy head one second, then it’s gone. Flavor has become bland compared to the old Heileman recipe. Heileman’s Old Style had a sweet aftertaste. Today’s Pabst contract version is about two steps above colored water. All Old Style is today is just another macro-made beer still collecting royalties from loyalties of this wonderful brand of the past. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA Apr 4, 2007 For one this is the Cubs beer, a signature for losers for 100 years. It looks, smells, and taste like crap or ivy depend on the time of year. Precept53 (113), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Mar 28, 2007 This beer is not that bad for the price, clean finish, little corn and yeast taste mostly wate, with little aroma and overly carbonated JAF737300 (791), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 27, 2007 Okay, this is a throw back. When Ilived in Chicago, this waqs the beer to drink and lets face it it isn’t too bad for the everyday inexpensive brews. isthismusic (3), Chicago, Illinois, USA does not count Mar 24, 2007 This beer is for getting trashed and nothing else. That said, it’s better than any of the other beers that are for getting trashed and nothing else, i.e Bud, Miller, Coors, PBR, whathaveyou. I jacked up the overall for sheer cheapness. 6 22-oz’s for three dollars, why not? jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA Mar 11, 2007 Bottle, boring is this a new version of PBR with less taste i guess so, well I only wasted a buck on this boring bottle. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 27, 2007 Pours a clear golden yellow color with half an inch of softly fizzy white foam. The head dies away rapidly to just a scattered film. No lacing at all. Mild sweet aroma that surprised me with a little bit of hopping.
Sweetish flavor - a little grapey, with a barely preceptible honey taste. It doesn’t exactly taste artificial, but then again it reminds me somewhat a of a malt liquor. Mild hops are found in the finish and into the aftertaste. Light body with very sparkly carbonation. I like that carbonation.
