What did the advertisements used to talk about? How it was "fully krausened"(sp)? Did they really mean to say "fully poisoned"? Bitter, sour taste. With energy prices so high, this stuff creates enough noxious gas in the bowels of its drinkers that the government might want to subsidize its production. Smells as bad as it tastes.
Thankfully Heileman went under, otherwise they may have faced war crimes charges for making this crap. SledgeJr (2960), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Truly the only way to drink Old Style is to purchase great volumes on sale at the grocery store, store it in your garage for months, nay years, and then yank a few out when your wife yells at you to clean out the garage. This would be my bomb shelter beer, as the worst, most vile storage conditions do not seem to alter the already dismal taste of Old Style. Many bars in Omaha have Old Style on tap. It’s usually the cheapest beer you can buy in this format as well. And yes, I know it is the Official beer of Cubs Nation. Now for the harsh reality: Old Style is a bad beer. Pale, extra pale yellow. Fizzomatic head that should be measured by some type of radioisotope decay detector due to its short half-life. Heavily carbonated for that deep diaphramatic belch factor. I have never found this beer to be as sweet as say PBR, but I know others who think of it in such a manner. Watery, corny and missing a few hops indeed. But, whoo-boy, I just can never pass up that $7.99/case special. This is always a fine beer to produce when the wife wants a beer to add to the latest Crock-Pot experiment instead of that obscure Belgian Tripel. Tmoney99 (4714), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

I have been at brewery years ago and I am sad that this once great brew has dropped this far. Small sweet flavor with little or no body or texture. I believe we have both gotten older. pman (26), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA

Don’t know how they got it, but even though I haven’t had one in 15 years I could probably still pick one out in a blind taste test. Not one of the best, but it does have some character. hair-old (137), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
