Old Style is an honest, unpretentious, award winning beer that has been pleasing Midwesterners for over 100 years.

A true Northside classic. A good beer for this style. Can’t knock it for what it is. Yellow, fizzy, and easy drinking lager.

Had one Midwestern pale lager, had them all. Always tastes like "Wrigley Field" to me.

Clear yellow with a thick white head. Kind of sweet with a metallic aftertaste.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2010 Sure, it’s sort of a mid-western favorite, or American classic, but Old Style is honestly not that good. Fine if you are in the mood for vintage beer drinking.* *Or if you are cheap and have a case of them left over from a party.

Pretty much a straight-ahead mass-produced lager. Average aroma, appearance, and taste. Nothing fancy here. Perhaps a decent thirst quencher after being out in the hot sun.

Had this on draft at the Cubs/Dodgers game in Chicago. Pours a clear yellow with a thin white head. No lace. Aroma is hay, bread, and grass. Taste is hay. Not good.

Can. A - Light gold color with a decent white, foamy head. Decent retention and very little lacing. S - Light grain and pale malt smell with a faint amount of hops. T - Grain and corn with a slight sweetness. A bit of grass and floral hops, but not much. M - Light body and crisp. Good carbonation. D - Good drinkability. Light and refreshing with decent flavors. Notes: Good for a adjunct/light lager. Decent amount of hops for the style. Not a great beer, but good amount of hops for the style.

Since the reformulation of this beer in 2008, It’s been my go-to cheap beer. The new process really cuts down on the cheap-tasting maltiness of other Pabst beers like PBR, Schaeffer’s, and Stroh’s. Finishes very clean and has top end flavor not found in most American Macro Pale Lagers.
