COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English: Hel is a dark wheat beer, with more than half of ingredients is wheat malt. This German wheat beer style has aromas and flavours of fruit and cloves and a malty character. The Southern Germany wheat beer is originally dark, but due to popularity of lighter beers in the 1950’s, the white wheat beer was produced. Hel is a nice and refreshing dark wheatbeer.

50 cL bottle, at Den årlige ølsmagning i Valhal - last bottle on earth. Pours dark brown with a dense tan head. Aroma of mild bubblegum. Malty, slight roasted and distinct wheaty. Ends in a nice wheaty and malty flavour. Nice, and I don’t normally get wheat beer.

Tap @ Lord Nelson. A dark hazy brown with a small creamy and staying off white head. Actually the look reminds me of a Guinness with lots of dense bubbles slowly surfacing and maintaining the rather firm head. Aroma is very mild, there is some sweet caramel, a touch of chocolate and a little banana. Very low carbonation, making it very creamy - again reminding me of Guinness. Flavour though, is very weak as the aroma. Some caramel, a little spark of hops and some chokolate. A case of stunning mouthfeel, underwhelming beer.

Draught. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a small off-white head. Sweet malty wheat aroma with some banana hints. Sweet malty fruity banana flavor, with some hints of clove. Sweetish malty finish with banana in the aftertaste.

Københavnske Øldage 07. draught. Murky, dark brown with a light aroma, that has notes of banana and clove. It’s however rather cold. The flavour has notes of wheat, roasted malt and a weak hint of banana and alight bitterness. Drinkable for sure, but when I drink a weizen bock I tend to compare it with the Aventinus - and this one has a looong way to go, according to my mouth’s point of view!! 2138

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2007 Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Ugly muddy chocolate brown. Estery fruity banana aroma. Rather dry and light bodied with fruity bubblegum flavour and medicinal finish. Pretty good, although the look scares and the finish is too medicinal.
