Brewed in the same high quality tradition as the original Heineken, but lighter in taste and with fewer calories and carbohydrates.

Being introduced in four select US markets beginning in June 2005: Phoenix, Arizona; Dallas, Texas; Tampa, Florida; and Providence, Rhode Island.

I always thought that Amstel was their light beer, ubt it was being served at a party - when in Rome.... no big surprise - I knew it would suck!

And to wash down that Bare Knuckle Stout...sheeesh. Beer was a clear light yellow-gold color with an average, white, frothy mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma was pretty much a bath of moderate DMS notes. A rest from the swirling allows for some light notes of toasted grain, trace herbal hop and dough, miscellaneous notes of honey and mellon. The flavor was lightly sweet, moderately acidic and trace bitter with a short corny-husky finish. Aftertaste was stale dry Cheerios. The body was light, the texture was watery and the carbonation was lively.

this isnít bladdy bad at all...its really like the original version, but not, just alittle weaker in the skunkiness, blind taste test could be intresting but not bad at all and iíd buy it more but to expensive like regular heiny. every one fuckin sucks, its a light heineken, but this is a snobber factory so why even write this.

Bottle, LaGuardia airport, NYC. Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, bread), lightly hoppy (herbs), with a note of DMS. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately bitter. Light body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Looks like this has gotten around the States more quickly than expected. Canít say that itís anything more than what can be expected from the name "Heineken Light".

So I guess Heiny finally jumped on this "Light" bandwagon. Guiness probably still has fewer calories. Itís like sushi, only you have to drink more to even feel full. mmmmmm sushi. Well went out last night and they had this. This or the normal big beers. Drank from bottle. Front what I could tell, the "Light" took out the skunky taste, that "light" gives beerís in green bottles. the later light being from light *bulbs.* ja ja nein nein? Anywho, still smelt kinda skunky. Really crisp, watered down corn malts taste, and if you have had Amstel light, itís pretty much the same. Maybe a bit more fresh. Itís interesting the cities they chose to test this stuff.

bottle - Well, it smells like almost nothing. It looks like any other pale lager. The flavor has the typical light hoppiness of European lagers. Itís thin and watery. It tastes like a Heineken with extra water. Surprise, surprise. Oddly enough that still makes it better than quite a few macrobrew pale lagers.

I think this is just a stategy to get some of the light drinkers(the carb watchers). I always thought Amstel light was the heineken light. but what do I know

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2006 New, so I thought I would try it. Not worth the price. No skunk like the regular. Thin flavor, grainy and a hint of sweetness. Water has fewer calories, fewer carbs and almost as much flavor. And just what is horizontal fermentation anyway? and does it make better beer? If so, I would hate to taste the vertically fermented Heineken Light. I guess I could sum this beer up by saying that it is vertically challenged.

Regular Heineken isnít great, and this is worse, but it was ordered for me before I could protest. Not much flavor, carbonation, a little bitterness. Certainly unimpressive.
