1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2007 I was interested in trying this after hearing about it from a friend who works for Heineken’s marketing dept because regular Heineken has always been present in my area of Long Island.
It was very fresh in the pouring stage and the first smell told me this would be good with marinated (Cajun style) catfish, just like regular Heineken. The frothy head led to a first taste that started out like any other European lager and then it cut short. Strange. It was like cutting the bass off of a graphic equalizer and then enhancing the remaining sound with reverb.
The Heineken Light finished well with the baked catfish, after three bottles. I know it will be well received this summer by the thirsty masses in the Hamptons, the Cape, and Mystic as the marketing effort gets going.
8/1 Update: Cans...taking an few steps back in evolution. It looks the same, but the drop in taste is even more present and applied than before.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2013 A light lager. Enjoyable because you can enjoy a few of them in succession without getting too loaded.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
12 oz can. Slightly darker than I would expect. Light golden, crystal clear. Head retention worse than seltzer. Aroma of a little sour corn. Pretty boring. Corn up front with a pretty clean finish. A little sweet for such a light beer. I almost actually wish this was a bottle so the skunk would provide another dimension. Not any good, but could be a lot worse.

Bottle left in my fridge by a friend. Clear yellow pour with a fluffy white head. Aroma of malt, water and light hop. Malty flavor with some hop, but mostly water.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: NOV 3, 2013 12 ounce bottle at my sister’s house on Easter Sunday (thanks, sis!). Medium gold hue, large white head that quickly split the scene leaving little lacing, sweet and skunky aroma--and this was from a 12 pack that concealed the green bottle, sweet and sour taste. It is what it is and that’s not a pretty picture, even if it is better than regular Heineken. Tasted on March 31, 2013.

3.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of the light beers that’s totally drinkable. Goes down smooth and doesn’t taste watery. Its better to pour in drinking glass.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a crystal clear pale yellow color with a smallish bone white head that shows little retention. Light sweet bready malty pilsner aroma with a whole lot of skunk. The flavor is a light bready grainy maltiness with a hint of hop bitterness and again a bit of mercaptan. Light body with a spritzy level of carbonation and a slick watery mouthfeel. I can’t get away from the skunky aroma to find much to like about this beer, probably a poor example to be a classic style imho.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle. A clear, golden beer with a small, white head. Weak, grainy and lightly fruity aroma with a little cellar hint. Dry and thin on the palate, a bit hard carbonation, but not with a too high level. There’s a faint bitterness in the flavor, really faint actually, with pale malts and some notes of fruityness. Short finish. Nothing interesting going on here. 130903
