Decent head and carbonation in the appearance. Mild yellow coloring. Aroma is of hay and strong skunk. Surprised at the skunkiness in a "light" beer. Taste is better than I expected, I think I like this more than the regular. Itís smooth.. a bit of a metallic taste.. which I can seemingly now sense in the aroma also.

I had it from the bottle. That skunky aroma is present. The taste is corn malt, slight sweetness, and a hint of bitterness. Itís thin and watery on the palate with some carbonation. It is what it is.

The only thing craft beer nerds dislike more than macro lagers is light macro lagers. Iíve tried almost all of them and Iíve yet to find one I truly enjoy, though Heineken Light comes awfully close. It has a cleaner taste than most American lights, in my experience. Still, the actual palette is featherweight in all aspects, so being relatively inoffensive will only get you so far.

I poured a 22oz bottle into a pilsner glass. It was bottled on 3/19/15 (if Iím reading the freshness code correctly) and cost $2.69 ($0.12 per ounce).

Appearance: Pale straw golden color, though crystal clear. Head is brilliant white. Pours fairly large at first, but fizzles away very quickly and leaves no lacing.

Smell: Since this was from a green bottle itís not surprising it has a strong skunky scent. Iíve built up a tolerance to this smell over the years since some of the Noble hops tend to have a similar aroma. It does seem to fade rather quickly and once I start drinking I can pick up faint malt character.

Taste: The first word that came to mind upon taking my first sip was ďclean.Ē Itís usually not a good sign when that is the predominate adjective to describe a beer, but in this case itís not only apt, but practically a compliment. Obviously, this is a beer intended to be mild so itís understandable. The first sip or two has a bit of a sour tang from the light strike, but it dissipates quickly. Eventually I start to taste a genuine malt sweetness Ė faint to be sure, but noticeable at least. Hops are practically non-existent as far as bitterness goes, but I get a touch of rye-like spice. The finish and aftertaste is remarkably clean compared to so many foul examples of the style Ė no metallic or dirty sensation here (maybe just a trace amount of cooking oil, though).

Drinkability: It doesnít say on the bottle, but my sources indicate that Heineken Light is only 3.2% ABV. Itís amazing a brewery this mammoth is capable of putting out such a small beer thatís not utter swill. Though that lightness definitely shows in the mouthfeel which is, not surprisingly, paper thin. Though it is pretty crisp throughout and actually a little refreshing while in the mouth. Much too boring to session, but I can see why mainstream audiences enjoy this.

Smells like a Heineken...pilsner with that slight skunk. .very clear appearance, smooth taste off the bat...changes to a bit bitter...not bad though, could actually drink these... Just nothing special...mostly water

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear straw color, white head cover, blobs and dots of lace. Taste is very light malt that adds edgy carbonation on the swallow, then turning a little hoppy in the finish. Carbonation accounts for most of whatís happening here. Not really a "bad" beer, but certainly not enough to say anything positive.

Clear yellow-gold beer. Tastes like a milder, lighter version of Heineken. Kind of has that percieved "skunked" aroma, but doesnít really show up in the taste. Certainly not the worst beer I drank, but definitely not the best. I would probably drink it if someone offered it to me, but probably wouldnít make a point to go out and buy it.

Tallboy at Nationals Stadium in Washington DC poured into plastic pint cup. Very clear pale straw golden color with white head. Aroma notes of very minimal pale malt sweetness. Taste adds faint hop spice bitterness. Light body, moderate-heavy carbonation, crisp with clean finish. Not much to say about this one, I think "heiney heavy" is enough.

Pours a light pale straw color with a fizzy white head. Grass, grain and skunky aroma. Grass and grain flavors. Light body and average carbonation. Watery grassy finish.

From a 12oz green bottle.

Pours, whew, itís skunky! Pours a very very clear, very light straw color. Thick white head but goes away and leaves thin film of lacing on surface. Itís very pretty.

Aroma is skunky but lessens as it sits. I certainly smell the barley malt. Itís got maybe a twinge of hops.

Barley malt is heavy on the taste. The skunkiness is there as you drink it, but itís not so much a factor. No hops in the taste. Itís only slightly sweet. It might also have a touch of lime in it.

Mouthfeel is clean, crisp. It is super drinkable as it has such a low ABV. Itís pretty much like drinking water. It is quite refreshing.

Overall, itís good for a light beer. Itís not the best light beer Iíve ever had, sorry Neil Patrick Harris, go ahead and mail the check. It would be a lot better out of a can. Itís overpriced and for the quality, itís not worth it. I would consider buying it again. As I am writing this, there are some hops that are coming through. So, itís making a compelling case right toward the end. I would buy it again.

Iím serious, go ahead and mail the check.
