Best compared to a German light lager. It is golden in color with moderate carbonation and a good, thick head (unlike most American beers). This beer has a hoppy aroma and contains about 5% alcohol by volume.

Goes down pretty good. Better on tap then a bottle.

I am not big on Pilseners, Heineken is a reasonable one. Good when one is thirsty.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2003 There's nothing wrong with Heineken. For a fizzy yellow mass-produced beer, it isn't half bad. It's got more hops than most domestic lagers, and it's light enough that it won't kick your ass like a good APA. I drink my share of Stone, Bells, etc., but I'm not afraid to have a Heineken every once in a while. It's the yin that balances yang. While the beer has no head, is fizzy and yellow, often is skunky, it's got a character all its own. I'd take it over most American mass-produced beers any day. There are better beers for less; say a good Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but a sixer of Heineken is the best choice you are going to get when you visit the gas station and want to take home a sixer without a far drive. That's the secret to Heineken's success. Yuppy beer? Maybe about ten years ago. The crown yuppie beer of today is probably clear bottle swill like Corona.

Ice cold, my favorite memory of it is watching case after case being loaded onto a Dutch warship. Bit on the bitter side and not my favorite, but prefer it to many American megabrews. Bit of a skunky smell and taste, weak foam.

Good beer, but sometimes leaves a bad aftertaste.

One actually has to taste this fresh from an Amsterdam tap to understand how good this beer is. Drink *cold*!

Remember a few vague moments of decent flavor, but overall ’skunk’ reigned.

A rather light lager that still has a lot of character. One of the best on the market to have with dinner.
