Must be the global hate beer no.1. ;) As a pilsener addict however I like it. Problems may result from many different brewing places. I usually like to know the brewery place.
Nice spicy malt, nice and fresh mouth feel.

The flavor I am so used to...been drinking these since 1974...tasted a lot better then. I read they cahnged the brewring process around 15 yrs ago. I get it for <$1/bottle (12 pk), but for the same $$ would prefer St Pauli. In the NLs, their homeland, non-export Heinies are much better than the bulk syuff they export

Either my tastes have changed over the years, or Heineken has changed. I remembered this beer as being a pretty good beer. Last night, I bought some since it was on sale, and was very disappointed. It had a metalic/skunky taste. Do yourself a favor and buy Grolsch instead.

United airlines made it possible to make a remarkable test: Does international standard swill taste any better at high altitude over international waters? The answer is NO:
It has no aroma to speak of. Golden no head. Round and wellbalanced but incredibly boring and it gets more boring for each sip. But what can you do when you have to be on that plane for 8 hours and this beer is the lesser of three evils??? Next time I’ll fly with Lufthansa - at least they have Warsteiner.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2006 Nov, 2002 A stand in the bog lager. [1.3]
May, 2004 Can. Crisp herbal aroma. Crisp and dry lager with pleasant sweet spots leaning toward toffee and a herbal finish. Actually quite an acceptable drink when thirsty - there are decent flavours and a reasonable palate, especially if allowed to stand long enough to let any co2 burn off. [2.3]
June, 2006</b >Pub Irish Coffee, Town Square, Valreas, Provence. / Le Sevigne, Grignan, Provence - Pression. Clean. Inoffensive. Refreshing. Sweetish cereal flavour and a dull, soft bitter finish edging into salt. [2.1]

Nice aroma when you first open the bottle.Taste is pleasant
run of the mill lager but nothing definite. Dry aftertaste with slightly fruity overtones. Nothing to send the taste buds spinning but nothing to
say this is a bad beer-just an ordinary one.

Heineken has to be the most over-rated beer of all time. It’s a drinkable lager - not much else going on.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2015 In Holland Heineken is thought to be one of the worst pilseners. Probably because most american people (not you guys :-)) tend to say Heineken is the best.
But after all those years of drinking Heineken, i think it’s one of the better actually. It smells better than the average pilsener. More spicy. When i get the smell of Heineken, i get all those memories of when i was young. I know i’m still young, but i mean the times i legally wasn’t allowed to drink alcohol. Or, well, in Holland age is 16 to buy beer. So my rate is definitely influenced by those memories. But hey! Everybody knows Heineken, so i don’t have to tell ya what it tastes like!
