330ml can. Pours clear golden with large bubbles and a thin head that disappears quite quickly with no lacing. Looks almost like a cider. Mild generic lager aroma. Light citrus flavour, some mild honeyed sweetness and perhaps a touch more bitterness than many macro European lagers, but still very mild and generic. A relatively decent example of its class, though that doesn’t really say much.

Pale gold, no head, faint bitterness, clean but bland finish. Not something to drink if you have other options.

Rated to correct a deficiency identified by BlackHaddock, thank you sir! I once worked at a small charity hospital in Saint Lucia, near the southern tip of the island. There was a Heineken brewery on the island, but no one had been able to score a tour. Then one day a guy came into my clinic with a deep gash in his knee. As I was stitching him up, I asked him how it happened, and he said he tripped and fell in the brewery. Do you work in the brewery? I asked. He said, "Oh mon, I dee brewmaster!" Needless to say, we got a tour for the whole hospital staff. At the end of the tour he left us in his office, equipped with a giant walk-in cooler, and said, help yourself, I’m going home for the day. So that was my most memorable taste of Heineken, which seemed less bitter and astringent than other versions. He explained that he tinkered with the hops recipe, and was constantly getting into trouble with headquarters because of it. We also sampled quite a few brews from around the Caribbean, since much on the various islands is contract brewed. They all went down good that day.

Its bitter taste is little less but its aroma and sourness is good but not strong as a pilsener beer

Appearance: Pale/golden, of course with a small quickly disappearing head. Aroma: Corn, cereal, a bit of sugar, a bit of wheat, your general lager, but much less watery, no alcohol or barely Palate: Think, very drinkable but semi-bland, doesn’t taste like much. Overall: Less offensive than other similar Macro-brews as it doesn’t have that weird metallic tinge, but then again, you’ll pay a whole lot more for this stuff, since it’s "imported." I’d prefer to get something more session-able. More flavor for the same price. Thanks but no thanks.

I’m only going to say that I wish in the USA you could find and get Amstel bier (not Amstel Light). I had it in Aruba many years ago and it is better than Heineken: more thirst quenching, satisfying, and less astringent aftertastes. Heineken is much in the same class as a Bud/Miller/Coors/Molson product even if it is a non-adjunct beer (supposedly). It’s not bad and certainly not the best. It depends on what you want for a beer.

330ml can poured into a lager glass. Appearance is clear pale golden with a large frothy off-white head that reduced quickly, leaving a lacing on the glass. Aroma of canned corn and cereal. Flavours of wheat bread, canned corn and a hint of alcohol and processed sugar. Taste is light sweet and light bitter. Palate is light bodied, thin texture and average carbonation. Heineken is a standard plain lager, there are better and cheaper lagers available.

Hey, judge me as you want, but I liked it. Yes, it is not the best beer in the whole wide world, but it does its job as it should. Refreshing in the summer, quite bitter aftertaste, it just needs to be really well chilled.

Sub par taste and an unpleasant metallic aftertaste make this famous brand an experience best had online, and not actually tasting it. The Dutch Coors.
