2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Keg pint. I had tasting notes for this before but lost them, so here we go again. Pours a clear fizzy golden with quite a nice lasting white head. Looks like a thirst quencher. Aroma is close to nil, very light grassiness to it. Taste is not that bad, a little watery, but some reasonable fruity sweetness and a slightly floral grassy bitterness. Lively carbonation, with a watery enough aftertaste, but a very refreshing palate to it. Overall, it didn’t fare as poorly as I thought. Possibly one of the ever so slightly better macro lagers, but still wouldn’t drink it by choice.

This is my favourite international macro brewery. There’s a lot to be said about the quality of heinekens quality control throughout the world, it sets the bar high. The beer itself is a standard lager. Its skunky in a good way and has a distinctive type of bitterness. Overall it just does a great job of playing to its strengths while still being a huge macro beer. Quite refreshing, knows its limitations. A lot of respect for the way the brand has been handled and the professionalism.

Dorée, nez léger de houblon et de moufette (qu’ on ne retrouve pas en fût). Il faut la prendre pour ce qu’ elle est ... une bière industrielle ... quand même mieux que Molson mais trop cher pour le plaisir procure.

A little bit surprised about the popularity from this beer. It’s all about marketing and merchandising if u want to sell beers like these. But are all the people who buy beers of these so stupid?
It’s just an ordinary white beer. No taste, no aroma, no identity.

Lys gul frge med tynt hvitt skum. Butikklager som smaker som alt annet lager. Noe maltlukt. Ellers lite smak. Tørstedrikke i varmen.

Weisser Schaum. Klares goldgelbes Bier.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Holland’s national standard lager, tasted from tap, bottle and 50 cl can. Sticky, snow white, dense and medium thick head, stable for the whole duration of the tasting; colour pale blonde, cristal clear with calm sparkling. Aroma of sweetish pale malts, grainy, weak impressions of young cheese, floral hops, soap, some wet dog but not disturbing. Sweetish grainy onset, medium carbonation, minerals, thin body, spicy and grassy, medium long hop bitterness in the finish, in which some bready maltiness also lingers and a kind of chemical acerbity appears in the background, which disturbs me after a while. Has a very bad reputation in Belgium, where it is usually stereotypically described as one of the worst beers one could possibly encounter, but this is nothing but chauvinism: objectively tasted, this is a perfectly acceptable standard lager. I’d even prefer this over Jupiler - but I’d hesitate to state this in Belgian company. But it remains a mass-marketed, soulless, very industrial ’pilsje’, of course.
