Appearance: Served from the wall-tap a clearish, dark brown body with a light, khaki-colored head.
Smell: This humble d-weisse smells of chocolate sprinkles atop dark, wheat-based bread with light, fleeting notes of fruit.
Taste: Malted wheat repleat with a dark breadiness, some slight nutty tones and sweet touches of caramel and cocoa powder. Touch of stewed figs. Light, tight bitterness lingering just underneath the malt character. Persists in its bready, chocolaty character until the easy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.
Drinkability: During a little trip through North Carolina this past October, I stopped in at Heinzelmännchen to sample their wares. The beers were, well... yeah... but this dunkel was surprisingly tasty and, by far, the best of the lot.

Swing-top growler. Dark brown color, very dark. Light tan, thin head. Aroma of fresh bread made of dark wheat. Lots of chocolate malts in the nose as well. Very thin body. Watery texture. Flavor is of toasted oats, puffed wheat, dark barley. Finishes with a dark crystalized fruit sugar caramelization flavor. It is a thin beer, but extremely flavorful.

Draft from the brewer. Pours a very dark amber with little to no head. Aroma is sweet malty and a little bit wheatish. Flavor is sweet with a clean body character. A little bit acidic and tangy. This beer is the combonation of their Brown and wheat. Pretty good, nothing to special
