| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 23, 2006 Draught at the brewery. Pours clear brown with small beige head. The aroma is caramel, nuts, hay, and a little bit of corn. The flavor is quite nutty, really, with some DMS and some grainy hops. Not too bad, but could certainly be better executed. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Draught. Pours an obvious brown shade. The aroma is very sugary, mildly nutty, barely chocolatey, with a touch of butter. The first thing I notice after taking a sip is the sweetness. The mouthfeel is medium-light. Gnutty Gnome is quite sugary with a very noticeable DMS presence. Subtle nuances of almonds, hazelnut, and chocolate save the brew from disaster, but aren’t enough to put this in my list of all time favorites. Aurelius (2661), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 7, 2006 Very clean drinking, lightly bitter. Good appearance points for the fancy green growler, the beer itself is sorta Vienna colored. Light, dry malty aroma with some grassiness. Green nuts, dry, astringent continental bittering. Medium-light body with residual bitterness in the finish. This definitely would be a decent beer with food, per the brewer’s intent.

Pours a dark chestnut/copper brown with a soft off-white head. Faint nutty aroma with brief mint accents. Decent nutty flavor with some slight chocolately notes. Very homebrewy tasting. Mouthfeel a bit on the thin side. Still, overall, a quaffable ale.
