Draft. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Fruity and yeasty, with a wheaty base and fresh banana fruitiness. Really good.

Bottle in Schlitz. Nice, cloudy, golden orange appearance with a white head. Fairly spicy yeasty, moderate to high clove, wheat bread, banana aroma. Spicy yeasty/clove flavor along with vibrant carbonation leads to a pretty refreshing hefeweizen. Notes of banana, acid, and citrus fruits. Nice beer.

Bottled. Hazy golden colour with a mediumsized creamy white head that leaves good lace. Aroma is wheat, some yeast, herbs, mild toffee and caramel. Flavour is similar and has a rather nice creamy palate.

(bottle) pours a murky golden-brown colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of heavy banana, popcorn and grass, with hints of vanilla, roasted malts and light toffee. flavour is mostly the same, lots of wheat, vanilla and caramel, with a faint roasty sweetness in the finish. medium to full-bodied with average carbonation.

My Bottom Line :
Banana and peach esters thrive in this rather full-bodied Weizen, as biscuity wheat and mild herbal hops add diversity.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam decorates the hazy golden orange.
-This is quite drinkable, but the body is too plump for my tastes in the style.
-Fruit esters are dominant; the peachy personality veers on being redolent of canned peach syrup too.
-Phenols are present, but rather low compared to the esters. This is not a textbook Weizen, so kudos for that, but it somehow did not come together as nicely as their wonderful Helles and Dunkel did that day for me.

On tap at the gasthof.

Draught at the brewpub. Good yeasty and spicy aroma. Cloudy dark orange colour. Big stable white head. The flavour has a clean lemon quality, ending quite dry. In my opinion, a little more sweetness would have helped.

Test vom 11.10.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,6,7,7,9,7 - 6,95

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2011 From tap at the brewpub. It’s unclear, dark golden with a creamy, white and lasting head. The aroma and the flavour has the same wonderful and perfectly balanced notes of yeast/clove, banana and wheat, and the finish is spicy. A very nice weizen, I look forward to trying the bottle version and compare the experience. Late May, bottle tried, and it’s almost as delicious, so I leave the score as it is.

Amber and very cloudy. Thick head. Very banana aroma. Fresh marshmallow and sugars. Sweet and a little bit light, with wheaty, lightly appley notes. Decent, if a bit light.
