3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 faroeviking (10284) - FAROE ISLANDS - MAY 14, 2013
Draught at the Helios Pub in Naha City. Deep dark brown colour, red-brown hue, small light brown creamish head. Roasty malty soft aroma with licorice and roasty caramel, some chocolate too. Ok mouthfeel., suspected more filling for a porter. Soft roasty malty flavour with caramel, bit chocolate and brown sugar with bit licorice. Ok porter but bit thin really.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 KyotoLefty (4727) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JAN 13, 2012
Draught at Raisin-do. Shiny black with a tight, tan head. Chocolate nose, with milk, berries and fruit. Light and smooth body. Rich but not too roasty and also not too sweet. Nice fruit, some wood. Refreshing, very drinkable and tasty, with great balance, though quite light—probably great for Okinawa.

dark chocolate, dark cherries, licorice, a bit thin bodied. Malty. Great depth, but not enough body.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Marc (485) - Yokosuka, JAPAN - FEB 2, 2007
Dark borown body this an attractive tan head. Chocolate and a little coffee in the nose. Soft coco notes in the mouth with a stouch of creamy sweetness. Mouthfeel was a touch on the thin side finishing a bit dryer then I ecpected.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 steview (1011) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 15, 2006
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2007 draft, naha: black body with burnt orange highlight, tan and tight foamy head; creamy, coffee, chocolate, milky; slightly soapy, slightly dry, slightly sticky aftertaste; a bit sweet, and a bit good! (try this beer half with Helios’ Pale Ale, or half with Helios’ German Lager!) / big green, glass bottled batch from the brewpub located south of Naha; dates labeled are 07.4.29, 07.6.29; chocolate, grain, and coffee nose; quiet pour--black body, some tight lines of tiny beading bubbles, brown to orange highlight, lingering moderate, nice tan head without too much lace; nothing surpisingly different in the flavor than in the aroma; a burnt flavor noted; a delicious after-dinner beer, bittersweet, a little bit sticky, and just a bit smooth yet a very quaffable one (or two, or three!); uprated.
