COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
HELLEKAPELLE from Brouwerij de Bie is an unusual pale ale with a straw color, hoppy aroma, light to medium body and clean malty flavor. It’s bitterness that starts in the middle of the palate and dominates through to the finish comes from Poperinge hops, wonderful thirst quencher.

Bottle. Pale golden, cloudy, average and mostly diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty - lightly wheaty and sweetish aroma, spiciness, fruitiness with some citrus hoppyness. Body is light to medium, malty – lightly wheaty and lightly sweetish flavor, spiciness and some citrus hoppyness, faint fruitiness. Finish is average, malty – lightly wheaty and lightly sweetish, spiciness and some citrus hoppyness. More spicineness than hoppyness – OK though.

Sample from bottle, shared by gunnfryd at the Toer de Geuze bus. Low coarse white head. Cloudy yellow body. Aroma of stale cheesy hops and soft mellow malts. Taste is sugary malt sweetness with an underlying metalic bitteness. Medium body strengt. Spiced, light bitter and malty ending.

psilosophy (484) - vitry en artois, FRANCE - MAY 27, 2011

MoritzF (8402) - Bochum, GERMANY - DEC 6, 2010
(bottle, 33cl) Slightly hazy, pale golden colour with a big and blond loose foamy head. Slightly dusty and soapy malty and subtle fruity nose with spicy notes in the background. Sweet and slightly sour flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Initially malty and sourish fruity taste with notes of ginger spice; sweet and sourish fruity finish with spicy hops and a tinge of metal. Not really a pleasure. 06.XII.10

goozen (2880) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - SEP 28, 2010
Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy blond coloured brew, not a Witbier, to low of alcohol for a Blond, to pale for a Belgian Speciale. But just good enough for me.

presario (4594) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 6, 2010
Bottle. Aroma of sour fruit salad and alcohol is not displeasing. Big white head on cloudy amber. Big shocking sour fruit salad flavour with an off-tasting finish. Finish is chalky, chemically and sour.

Pours a hazy golden yellow color. Aromas of grainy malts, yeast, and a touch of hops. Flavor was kind of bland, herbal with some sweetness.

Travlr (9998) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JAN 7, 2010
Slightly hazy straw colored with a small white head that settles very quickly and leaves little lacing. Aroma of grass and apples, with some sour notes present. Maybe black pepper and a bit of citrus. Malts dominate the taste, with some sour apple. Reasonable body, but not great. Middle of the road in this brewer’s range.
