3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Hellers (9/1/09): Pours a transparent golden with a thin, spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet pale malts with a fresh, semi-earthy noble hop balance. Starts fairly full and slightly sticky for the style with some mild caramel sweetness balanced with some grassy hop bitterness before a drier bittersweet finish. Not quite as drinkable for the style.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled (from BierZwerg.de). Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is quite big on bready and caramelly malts, also has some citrus fruits, mild earthcellaryness as well as some mild herbs. Flavour is wood, fruits, some earthcellar as well as mild bready malts. Biting carbonation. Some slight harsh grainy notes as it warms up a bit, otherwise quite nice.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Swing-top bottle (BZ, BB 07/2010)
Clear golden color, small white head. Quite grainy, papery aroma. Very sweet malty (for a light lager) with cardboard, corn and hints of diacetyl. Lacks all good things in Kölsch (=citrus hoppy fruityness). Maybe because it is an eco-beer? Where have all the hops gone?

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 1 December 2009. Pleasing gold colour. The aroma seemed too grainy for what I expect to be a light, fresh delicate beer. Sweetish on the palate and lacking in crispness. I have generally been unimpressed by bottled Kolsch and this one did nothing to change that. Palatable but rather dull.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled 50cl. Deep golden with a decent white head. Quite a lot of hemp showing up in both nose and taste. Very pleasant tasty, biscuity Kölsch where hemp notes are really quite prominent throughout indeed. Plenty of character. Deeply pleasurable.
