Glouglouburp (1915), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 26, 2007 In short: Sugary Amber Ale. Boring.
How: One of seven glasses shared with WeeHeavySD. NOTE: This is part of the first batch of beers they brewed. Drank within a week of the brewpub opening. Things may (and hopefully will) change a lot. I will re-sample in a little while.
The look: Clear golden body topped by a little white ring of foam
In long: Unbalanced, more sweet than it is bitter. Sweet didn’t feel like malt sweetness, just plain candy sugar. Some watery caramel. Very thin body, borderline watery. Timid hops. An overall impression of hard candy. I’m glad to see that there was plenty of people at this new brewpub but the beer is just not going in the right direction. Plenty of people at the Helm but nobody at the helm. WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Oct 22, 2007 1st rating. Shared with Glouglouburp @ the Brew pub on its second night. Pours pale orange with a bright white head. Nose is light and hoppy. Taste is weird, its ok, decent, with a hoppyish bitter finish best they’ve got.
