Glouglouburp (1944), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 25, 2007 In short: Amber Ale with a light Cream-Ale twist. Void of content. Very boring.
How: One of seven glasses shared with WeeHeavySD. NOTE: This is part of the first batch of beers they brewed. Drank within a week of the brewpub opening. Things may (and hopefully will) change a lot. I will re-sample in a little while.
The look: Partly cloudy orangey-yellow topped by a quickly diminishing white head.
In long: Totally lacking in the malt front, barely any caramel flavour. Some fruity hard-candy flavours here and there, some dry fruit skin, some aromatic leafy hops. Light fluffy body. Didn’t feel like a cream ale at all. Feels very hollow. As empty as a training bra.
WeeHeavySD (1720), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Oct 22, 2007 1st rating. Shared wtih Glouglouburp @ the Brew pub on its second night. Pours orange yellow with a bright white half finger head. The nose is hoppy, too hoppy for the style. Taste is nothing like a cream ale. Lame dead hoppy taste with orange peel. Seems like it was poured nitro though can’t tell from the beer. Blech.
