COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our red India pale ale is a sterling example of excess. We use copious amounts of both malts and hops to create this decidedly bitter yet curiously balanced beer. As its namesake implies it is more than capable of overloading the unsuspecting pallet just with a lot less mutton chops and frock coats. Big caramel, big malts and even bigger resinous citrus hop flavor and aroma. This beer pairs well with BBQ, Curry, Spicy foods and pungent cheeses.

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear dark amber with a medium, frothy light beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is cherry, apple esters, earthy and spicy rye malt, citrus and floral hops. Flavor is toast malt, cherries, moderate hops and bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Clear deep dark Amber with a small cream hued head. The nose is a bit marijuana-ish with a load of rye and earthy orange citrus. Bitter tone with a mellow flavor of rye, dank hops, a bit of orange peel and peppery bread. Not shabby but a wee touch too peppery and bitter.

Bottle from Ales By Mail. BB 28.2.15. Slow gusher, comes out of bottle in a slow speed, when settled in glass it reveals a murky dark brown body with a huge frothy off-white head. Aroma reminds me of a flemish red, acidic wood. Taste is strange, moderat dry resinous hops, high carbonated, better and better as this one warms up.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly/fully diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, malt syrup, popcorn), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot), with a strong note of diacetyl, other notes of carpet and coffee grounds / compost. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, syrupy texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Dirty and raw and syrupy and gross. Horribly inept. First time extract homebrewer quality, to be perfectly blunt.

650ml bottle. Hazy amber colour with absurdely huge, frothy, lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Piney, grassy, hoppy aroma, malty (rye ?) background with notes of red currant. Taste is really bitter, grassy and piney hoppy, completely masking any hints of a malty backbone. The golden mica flip side of Eureka State.

The 22oz bomber pours with a clear copper body that supports a massive tower of light tan foam. The aroma offers up malts, floral hops, a bit of soapiness and mild pine hoppiness. The taste is pretty decent with floral to soapy notes as well as pine hops and a malt sweetened earthy hoppiness. This seems to come close and I can feel its potential but in the end the odd soapiness and massive foamy pour distract from the experience.

Bottle - very lively, huge beige head, despite correct pouring, nearly opaque brown. Aroma of floral hops, pine, sweet malts, caramel. Similar in the taste, highly carbonated, reasonably well balanced. Long hoppy bitter finish. Not bad.

22 oz bottle. 7.2%. From alesbymail.co.uk.
From my advent calendar door #23. Reddish murky brown colour with a huuuuuuuge dirty tan head. Sweet caramel malt, resiny and citrusy hops, mild bitterness and sugary sweetness in the aroma. The flavour is dark resin hops, moderate bitterness, mild alcohol, sweet caramel and sweet maltiness.
