UPDATED: MAY 21, 2013 draft at Hennemann in Sambach. called Zwicklbier dunkel. amber body, lightly hazed and effervescent with a small off-white head. beautiful initial whiff of Munich malt cookie batter and sweet pastry with toasty, minerally. nice firmness. rich and succulent cookie and honey malt showcase. there’s actually some gamey notes and a small corn twang that creeps up as it sits in the glass, but even that is pretty pleasant. very unlike what you would usually call zwickelbier (unfiltered pils), but also very unlike what you would think by "dunkel". this is a Munich malt lager with only a small amount of yeast, and it’s absolutely delicious.

Bottle. Amber, hazy, small to average and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate malty - lightly grainy and sweetish aroma, caramel and some bread with light fruitiness. Moderate, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and some bread. Finish is average, malty - lightly grainy and lightly sweetish, light caramel and light bread with faint hoppyness. Sweetish kellerbier with some caramel.

A very ice unfiltered dunkel kellerbier. It has some very nice doughy malt flavors.

It’s hazy bronze with a huge, creamy head, and the aroma has notes of malt, light yeast and fruit. The flavour is moderately sweet with notes of malt, biscuits, light fruit, and the finish is dry with a light bitterness.

Mild herber, stark prickelnder Antrunk. Schwach würzig-getreidig, mäßig gehopft. Zum Ende etwas bitterer, alles in allem viel zu mild. /7/6/7//7

Bottle 500ml. w. swing top @ home.

Unclear hazy medium amber orange color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, cereal, toasted, dark malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100809]

Bottle @ Brewery. Pours clear dark amber with a small white head. Paper, grain, grass and yeast. Medium bodied. Dry and herbal flavor with a bit of sour malts. Perfumey and grainy. Medium bodied.

Ceramic mug. Toasty, spicy hop aroma. Toasty hop character. Fairly light body for the style but again with toasty hop and bready malts.

Draft @ brewery. Dark gold, in krug, lasting white cap. Aroma is slightly smoky with wet wood and wood shavings. Similar flavors. Quaffable palate. Lots of raw rood character throughout, cedar. Also lemongrass. Is a nice dry zwickel but has a sweet malt character that distinguishes it from a hoppy kellerbier.

Draught at the brewpub. Hazy amber colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour has a little dark malts to begin with and a hint of OK yeast. Both seem to fade away as one drinks a few more gulps. Finishes slightly grainy. Turns out to be a rather uninteresting beer in the end.
