Chitown RB gathering Jan 2010: bottle shared by Frank, thanks
Golden hued with a small fizzy head, looks just like the dry cider. The aroma has notes of sugar and apple juice, slight funk and wood, flowery esters as well. The taste is sweet as expected but not over the top along with apple, wood and herbal notes. The mouth feel is oily and soft. I actually liked this better then the dry cider, at least this one is more accurate on what it is.

Sampled at the Chicagoland Tasting. My last of the tasting notes to be entered. This beer was a bit sweet for my liking. Pours a bright pale yellow hue, small whitish head that dissipates to mere bubbles. Aromas are some sweeter apples, crisp, a touch of sugar and alcohol, very fruity, sweet. Initial mirrors this, sweet apple juice and sugar, a touch of dryness, but I really preferred the other one. This was too sweet for my palate, emphasizing sweetness over that dry partially funky version. Not a retry. The other one was

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Looks, smells and tastes like sour carbonated apple juice. Slightly phenolic and funky. For what itís worth, I prefered this to the dry cider. Both are sweetened after fermentation but this one just goes the whole hog and brings it to a level where the fruitiness really pops. Possibly an ideal level would be somewhat between the two as the sweetness here was a bit heavy on the stomach.

Bottled, 500ml from Quercus Brewery & Bottle Shop, Kingsbridge, Devon. Clear gold with no head. Very sweet cider as described in the title, good apple flavour, but much too sweet for me.
