This is an American Amber Ale - rich and enjoyable with its carmel and toffee sweetness that is balanced by a subtle aroma and a complimentary flavor of hops. Amber Apparition pairs well with delicate seafoods, poultry dishes and salads.

Rcvd in trade. The appearance has a dark rusty amber/red colored body with a one and a half fingered white foamy head that lasts for a good minute before gently dieing into the body, some light speckled lacing sticks nicely to the sides of the glass. The smell has some earthy caramel malts and light bitter hops that round out a nice sweet aroma with some toffee coming through. The taste has mainly a sweetness running through the caramel malts. There is some toffee that comes through with a light nuttiness to it with a light caramel/nutty aftertaste and a dry sweet finish. On the palate, it sits about a light to medium in the body with a decent enough sessionable aspect to it that could assist in going with its respected food. Carbonation is somewhat smooth but still there’s a decent harshness to subside the palate a bit longer as there’s the element of a slight creaminess rolling over the mouth and tongue. Overall, I would say this is a nice American Amber/Red Ale well worthy of coming back to and well worthy of having it with its respected food.

LIked this...thought it could have also been described at an Oktoberfest-style, but a bit hoppier...

Pours a clear amber color with a thick off white head. The head quickly dissipates. Aroma is of malts, caramel, subtle sweetness, dark fruit, and metal. Light bodied. Flavor is of malts, hops, some roastiness, and molasses. Leaves a slightly sweet malt finish.

22oz bottle from Top Shelf Beers. Pours a dark amber. Mostly sweet caramel malt flavors closer to a brown ale in my opinion. Nothing spectacular here but easy to drink and not bad.

a bit of a roasty note, mild cocoa, a little bit estery. clear dark brown/cola color. pours with a big head, that quickly falls to thick lacing. brown malt flavor, with a mellow cocoa note. some bitterness sneaks in towards the finish. bitterness hangs on in the aftertaste, presenting as a bit astringent -- drying, puckering bitterness.

Paid $7.39 for a 22 oz. bottle at Top Shelf Brews Hampton, NH. Poured dark hazy brown color with an average white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Light toasted malt and pine needle aroma. Flavor is medium to sweet toffee with a light Earthy hop bitterness of low duration. My expectations may have been a bit high on this one. I find myself drinking a lot of amber ales recently. Honestly I don’t know why.?..? They tend to be real average, like this brew. Not bad in anyway just boring.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2013 I had this again and decided I needed to revisit my review. I got a lot more flavor than I did before. Bubble gum smell and a hint of this in the taste. It was a lot more flavorful this time around.
