Working Manís Porter an ale of true merit, brewed in the tradition of Englandís Industrial Revolution, an age of rough-handed factory workers, a time before the weekend existed. Hearty and truly robust, this Porterís body is built with complex English brown and black malts, and refined by Brambling Cross hops, which lend notes of herbs and black currants. It pairs well with oysters, shepherdís pie, and sitting down after a long day. ABV: 5.2% IBUís 30

Picked up a bomber on a recent trip to Plymouth NH. A pretty basic style to brew. Tasty and robust. Body on the thin side, which would make this good with food.

Pours a dull burnt umber color with a finger of khaki foam, Nose is roasty with underlying cocoa and burnt spent coffee. Palate follows with good roasted malt throughout and layers of bakers cocoa, some chewy grain and a lingering bitterness. Good carbonation and a classic porter.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2015 Bottle from The Drinkery, Derry, NH. Aroma is roasted malts, with strong chocolate and yeasty bread dough and hints of cereal, coffee, alcohol and caramel. Appearance is dark, dark brown--almost black with decent 1 - 1 1/2 finger width creamy light brown head that leaves similar lacing. Taste is more sweet than bitter but they trade off dominance. Palate is creamy texture but a little to the thin side of medium-bodied--Iíd like mine to be more full. Carbonation is present but does not call attention to itself. Finish is more bitter than sweet and is dry and rather abrupt. Overall, a nice smelling and tasting beer without a ton of complexity but some nice features. A little thin for a Porter.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a nonic pint. Bottle lists no born on date. Aroma - Muted chocolate, roasted malt, herbal hops. Faint roasted character. Whatís here is good, just wishing it was more bountiful. Appearance - Deep, dark black with a mocha head. Little to no lacing. Taste - Chocolate, roasted malts, espresso-like bitterness, earthy . Slightly acidic finish. Little to no hop presence. Lasting roasted character on the palate. Palate - Medium bodied. Creamy with a pleasant smooth carbonation. Overall - A fine English porter.

Pours deep brown into a shaker. Mocha head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Chocolate and caramel aromas. Dry with toast and caramel upfront turning chocolate in the medium length finish.

Bomber in a trade thanks to Phatdog1. Poured a slightly unfiltered opaque dark brown with a thin tan head. Taste of roasted and toasted dark malts, slight chocolate bitterness and hints of coffee. High fizzy carbonation, medium body. Tasty brew!

Brattleboro Food Coop, Brattleboro Vermont bomber: Pours near black with a tan head. Aroma is nice chocolate, robust malts, and hints of coffee. Taste is a bit bitter, but has a nice sweet chocolate undertone, along with enough roast to pack some punch. Very easy to drink, but not at all boring. I liked it.

Poured this a bit cold and so it had a thin tan head. Very black. Let it warm up. Nice chicolaty aroma with a little marshmallow. Tasted nice. Not velvety smooth but rather a hint of dark chocolate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Un Dun and, surprise, it doesnít taste old. Black with lasting tan head and lace. Nice roasted earthy spicy coffee and chocolate aroma with hints of cinnamon and fruit. Mild fruity sweetness with coffee and chocolate and spice and roasted coffee herbal bitterness with some ash and earth. Robust but sessionable. Very good/excellent.
