COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Working Manís Porter an ale of true merit, brewed in the tradition of Englandís Industrial Revolution, an age of rough-handed factory workers, a time before the weekend existed. Hearty and truly robust, this Porterís body is built with complex English brown and black malts, and refined by Brambling Cross hops, which lend notes of herbs and black currants. It pairs well with oysters, shepherdís pie, and sitting down after a long day. ABV: 5.2% IBUís 30

Picked up a bomber on a recent trip to Plymouth NH. A pretty basic style to brew. Tasty and robust. Body on the thin side, which would make this good with food.

Poured this a bit cold and so it had a thin tan head. Very black. Let it warm up. Nice chicolaty aroma with a little marshmallow. Tasted nice. Not velvety smooth but rather a hint of dark chocolate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Un Dun and, surprise, it doesnít taste old. Black with lasting tan head and lace. Nice roasted earthy spicy coffee and chocolate aroma with hints of cinnamon and fruit. Mild fruity sweetness with coffee and chocolate and spice and roasted coffee herbal bitterness with some ash and earth. Robust but sessionable. Very good/excellent.

Pours a light tan, three finger head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Deep ruby color, nearly opaque. Good carbonation and light bodied. Roasted malt, coffee nose and flavor is similar with hints of vanilla. Nearly burnt coffee finish. $7.65 for a 22oz bottle from Bertís Better Beers Hooksett NH.

Draft @ New England Tap house Grill. 2/8/2012. Standard pint glass shows dark brown with little head retention. Nose is a solid amount of roasted malt. Chocolate, roasted grain, hints of vanilla and Earth. Dark chocolate flavor with some coffee, English malts and a light herbal note near the finish. The body is normal for the style and it has a slightly creamy texture. This is best standard release from this brewery. Itís well worth a try if you like porters.

From a bottle. Pours very dark brown with chunks of yeast in the bottom and a thin fizzy tan head. Light body and medium carbonation. Tastes like nicely roasted grains, very mild coffee, toasted bread, medium bitterness. Smells like burnt toast and roasted coffee.

Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with fizzy tan head. Aroma is roasted and chocolate malts, earthy notes, light coffee, faint plums, and faint vanilla. Flavor is dry, roast notes forward, light espresso, light chocolate bitterness, and some earthiness; dry, roasted finish. Medium body and carbonation.

$7.99 for the 650mL purchased from Top Shelf Brews Friday evening. To oversized snifter, it pours a syrupy mauve dark brown with a quickly-dispensing sudsy, short khaki head, one fingernail in length. Aromas of milk chocolate, sawdust, almonds, and some light earthiness. Tastes the same with the addition of earl grey tea, topsoil, and DME by swallow. Chocolatey finish. Itís easy drinking, thatís for sure. Probably the best Henniker beer has yet released.

From the 650 ml. bottle. The pour is deep brown to just about black with a thin beige head that settles down. All kinds of things going on with the aroma including coffee, smoked burnt malts, black currant, and a touch of rosemary, basil or other aromatic herbs. The body is thin to medium. The coffee is not as evident in the taste as the herbals and black currants pounce forward instead, Low bitterness at the end. Very nice.
