Skunky canned corn like aroma. Yellow with a little head. Bitter kick that goes by quick, when just plain water. Not my taste!

May 2009: I first drank this beer in the mid 1970’s, it was the beer sold in the cafe at Cochem Castle and I loved it. Not seen it for years, then I found this 500ml bottle on the Greek island of Skiathos, was I pleased? You bet your ass! Poured into the half pint tumblers that were supplied with my holiday studio, it looked great. Deep golden body, white head, good lacing and head retension on both glasses. Clear and bright. Normal lager/pils score of 3 for non-aroma. Malty and wholesome flavour, rich for a normal pilsner. Fairly dry, refreshing and crisp, full bodied, if a pilsner can be so called? Good stuff, but remember I’ve been on a Greek island for ten days drinking local beers before I found this!

Bottle- Pours a golden color with a nice white head and decent lacing. Mild aroma of fresh grain with only a trace of sweetness coming through. Nice malty flavor with some bitterness and a clean finish. Light body, initially crisp then it seems to sooth out. Decent balance.Good drinker. Nice middle of the road Pilsner, not too fancy.
