Amman, Jordan - actually from green 500 ml Frankfurt Beer can, but listed here as an alias of Henninger Premium Lager. Which I kind of question as the beer I tasted is way better than those rated here. I sometimes wonder about these kind of beers that are produced and bottled all over the globe. Can there be significant regional differences even though it is supposed to be the "same" beer? But I digress.
Was not anticipating much as I generally loathe lagers. Poured the middle of the road pale yellow with a minimal white fizzy head. I was surprised at the light aroma - maybe a little grassy and a touch of malt - but absolutely none of the skunk I usually associate with the style. The mouth feel was crisp and lively. The flavor was clean and slightly sweet to begin with, but ended with a decent amount of bittering from the hops. I drank it ice cold and didnít let i warm up - which from experience with the style would change matters.
This will be my go to lager for now. Might re-rate if I ever come across it in the blue bottle. My experience with lagers is that bottled ones seem more skunky than canned ones.

This beer is ridiculously cheap at the moment here in QLD and i cannot figure out why?? its a great german beer with excellent appearance and a great finish too. Definitely the bargain of the century well for the moment anyway.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2008 I think this is what I had. It was in a black 16oz can from Trader Joeís that looked like the label shown for Kaiser Pilsner but said "Premium Bier." It was actually better than expected from what I had read. Itís clear gold with a very big white head that lasts a while and leaves a tiny bit of lace. The aroma is grain, honey, with hints of pine, rather nice; a lighter version of the German-style aroma. The taste is very liight and the body rather watery, particularly at first, but then it comes together with a light grain body and taste, then more hops, mostly pine with some herbs. Despite the predominant hoppy taste, itís not overly bitter and has a light sweetness. Itís lighter than other German beers of the style, but still tasty with a pleasant, clean crispness. Although nothing special, itís quite enjoyable.

In the 0.5L ca from HyVee CB. Pours a bright golden yellow with a medium poofy head that hangs around forever. It has a clean, mild industrial german beer aroma. This seems to me to be a very very strong tasting beer. A super pilsner in profile, if I was blind tasting it. The only drawback that I can find is that it tastes a bit metallic at the finish. As I finish this, I must say that it really is quite awesome, so Iíll go way against the grain on this one and score it very high for the style.

Straw coloured, low carbonisation and very little head.A fairly routine German lager, quite refreshing, pleasant but unexceptional.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Effervescent bright gold, topped by a good three inches of creamy almost white foam. Good head retention - it gets rockier as it slowly recedes. Some webby lacing, but not much. Light generic malt and a touch of spicy hop in the aroma.
Dry malt flavor with bitter spicy hops. Light body, prevalent carbonation. Crisp and clean finish. Lingering dry aftertaste. Thereís not a whole lot to write about, actually. A decent session beer for the price, but I would have liked a bit more malt and body.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: Medium pale gold lager with rather large, fine beaded snowy top. Decent lace shown.
Nose: Soft German hop aroma , slightly mineral with meadow flower. Clean , crisp with sweet malts. 7+.
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied. High carbonation but with filling softness of malt. Slightly metallic raw bitterness but that also was not overly annoying, sweeter finish. Good, crisp refreshing German pils.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The beer from my hometown: Frankfurt, Germany. You see: this beer holds a sentimental spot in my beer loving heart. When poured, this beer produces a prodigious, billowy white head -- which surprises many people because the beer itself is fairly low in carbonation. The beer has a slight sweet malt nose and a flowery hops bitterness in the finish. It is crisp, clean tasting, bright yellow in color, and always smooth -- never harsh.

From the black 16 ounce "Premium Bier" can - It pours a golden yellow with a grassy aroma, and itís taste is of smooth pilsner lager without any real distinctiveness. Yeah, itís better than BMC, but not that much better.
