merlin48 (349), Henderson, Kentucky, USA Apr 21, 2008 Green bottle should have been a dead giveaway. Chill hazed golden body is topped by a small white head that desecends into respectable lacing. Aroma is skunky. Maybe some remote florals. Taste isn’t much better. Skunky is the operative word here. Some floral hop bitterness and sweet malts underneath. Reminds me of an old Heineken.
rkuhnel (1100), Eureka, California, USA Jul 28, 2008 From a 330 oz bottle from a Word Beers pack labeled Frankfurt Beer this poured a clear gold with medium white head that lasted quite a while, and left decent lacing. Nose of light malt with just a hint of hops. Light mouthfeel. Flavor is light malt and the finish is pretty bland. Drinkable but unremarkable. Walt (2268), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 17, 2008 Pour is dark clear golden yellow with a thin sticky white head....super skunky nose...taste is sweet and grainy with hints of skunk... DTM (373), Winters, California, USA Jun 16, 2008 Bottle from Trader Joe’s in San Jose, CA. Pours a gold color with a white head that quickly disappers. Smells corny and grainy. Sweet malts followed by a considerable amount of bitterness. I’ve had better.... ABUSEDGOAT (1902), California, USA May 24, 2008 Clear golden, moderate head that dissipates. Aroma is grain, grass, light bread and vanilla. Light body, sweet and bland. For the price (compare to Bud) it’s an amazing beer. But if you compare to Bud, well... bulletrain76 (539), Santa Cruz, California, USA May 18, 2008 16oz can from Trader Joe’s. Typical lighter mainstream German taste, with very light malts, but a good deal more bitterness than the American equivalents, and I definitely like that about it. Light, watery, and spickly. Pretty clean overall; wish there was some hops flavor to go with the bitterness in the finish, but for a cheap lager (same price as a sixer of high life cans at TJs righ now) it’s definitely not the worst.
